Bulldogs will try to tarnish Warriors? perfect season
Dec 13, 2007

The Georgia Bulldogs take on the undefeated Hawaii Warriors in the Sugar Bowl at the Louisiana Superdome on New Year?s Day.

Bet this BCS Bowl game at betED.com, which has Georgia as a 9-point favorite and the game's total at 69.5.

This is the first ever meeting for the teams, who both made appearances in non-BCS Bowl games last season. Georgia beat Virginia Tech 31-24 in the 2006 Chick-fil-A Bowl, and Hawaii (8-10) won 41-24 over Arizona State in the Hawaii Bowl.

In their last game, the Bulldogs (10-2 SU, 7-4 ATS) piled up 219 yards on the ground in a 31-17 win over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets last time out. Georgia covered the 3.5-point spread on the road, while the 48 points were over the total of 46.

The Warriors (12-0 SU, 4-6 ATS) scored 14 points in the fourth quarter out to beat the Washington Huskies 28-21 and preserve their perfect season. The Warriors failed to cover the 13.5-point spread at home and the score was under the total of 75.

While the Bulldogs are favored, they?ll need to overcome the fact that Hawaii is the third team from a non-BCS conference to make a BCS bowl, and the other two both won ? WAC champion Boise State beat Oklahoma in last year?s Fiesta Bowl, and Utah beat Pittsburgh in the 2005 Fiesta Bowl.

Georgia will have to stop Hawaii quarterback Colt Brennan, a Heisman Trophy finalist and college football's all-time leader in touchdown passes. In three seasons, the senior has thrown for 14,024 yards and 131 touchdowns playing in coach June Jones' run-and-shoot offense.

This year, Brennan was third in the Heisman voting and second in total offense while helping make Hawaii the nation's highest-scoring team at 46.2 points per game

One thing Hawaii has had difficulty with this season is covering the spread. While the Warriors are 5-0 SU in their past five games, they?re just 2-5 ATS in their past seven.

Georgia is 5-0 SU and 4-1 ATS in its past five.

Bet the College Football Bowl games at betED.com, which has lines available for all 32 games, including the five BCS Bowl games.
