Just want to help you guys out here because this is inevitable .

Bush whipped up Katrina so he and his cronies could make big bucks on oil he is secretly laughing all the way to the bank .

Its also Bush's fault for N.O. because somehow someway Iraq has taken all our money and therefore we just couldn't afford to reinforce the levee sys.

Now for those with a brain :

Please disregard the fact that the US GDP or buying power is 12 plus trillion dollars a year it really is the 200 billion or so that we will spend in Iraq that kept the Cat 3 designed levies from being reinforced, also please disregard the levees brand spanking new were designed to withstand a Cat 3 storm and it was Cat 4 storm that hit them . Also please disregard the last 20 presidents that could have done something about this ....really its Bush's fault !

i went through andrew in miami in 92 lost my house , trust me it takes 3-4 days after storm to get people in we ad it bad, they have it bad and then all the water. there is more being done then these news stations are showing, just places like NO hard to get supplies into. Like i said we got supplies in country side 4 days later ,you don't see all the shit on the ground in NO like big trees and shit because of water, then you just don't understand how crazy people get, trust me I saw it first hand that does not help.

least they have some national guard we saw them for first time on late part of days 3 day4 some parts but once they got there they did a great job with what they had to work with it was hell, so till you been through one a real one cat 4 or 5 like andrew was you could not nderstand it unless you are there, hell bush, clinton or g.washington could not do things any faster shit takes time and thugs make it take even longer, we had tons of them and lot of home owners we had guns and people were shot at the scum who was trying to steal from us what little we had left.

largest deployment ever? I have been watching this to many hours, mainly on Fox, and haven't actually observed virtually any NATIONAL GUARD, lots of people doing talking & throwing numbers around, but very little presence of military on ground that I have seen.

How much does it take to drop food and water to the thousands at Super Dome or convention Center, its been 4 days.

Dum asses that ignored mandatory evacuation?

No you horses ass, it was the elderly, disabled, and poor that don't possess a vehicle you idiot.

I don't even understand the point of this thread - BUT I definitley appreciate your story Fletcher. I can only imagine the hell that is NO right now.

I'd really really like for politics to be put aside until as many people can helped as possible. We did that during 9-11 recovery, I hope we can do it again.

I think it means we should be spending more in Iraq because we obviously have the resources.

I understand what your saying Shamrock--its a shame no one took care of those that could not leave in prior evacuation process however would have been impossible task after some research.
Has it struck anyone else in watching-refugees-looters-interviews ect in past 3 days that if you didn't know it was New Orleans you swear they were reporting from Zaire or another African nation.
Was so intrigued did some fact checking and found N.O. to my surprise is bout 67% black. Odd how when we visit and only see part of city how we get entirely different prespective. I would have never had thought that.

White 135956 28.05%
Black or African American 325947 67.25%

Your right, Freeze. All levels and sides of the government have been dropping the ball for quite sometime. It really shows through when a tragedy hits.

It seems we are not ready for anything anymore. ...Or maybe we never were - maybe we just like to roll the dice. It's all good when we go a few decades without anything bad. But when we are hit hard twice in 5 years, it can really make us look stupid. ...And unfortunately, people (always poor or working stiffs) pay with their lives.

The whites fled to the surrounding suburbs over the last 40+ years.

Ya right ! grandma's, grandpa's and disabled with AK 47's guess you didn't watch before it hit when the Mayor of N.O. told people 24 hr's before it hit exactly what to do if they had no transportation, guess you didn't see they had over 30 shelters set up all over the place so everybody could walk to one at last resort as well as free cab and bus service for those in need. they were told again and again by the mayor than the Gov. than the President . Out of the 1000's I have watched walk out of those waters not even 1% was elderly or disabled so get a grip !

You are telling me you don't know why they just don't drop food and water for the super-dome ?????? whew ! hello is anybody home ????

Embarrassing !!! You want to talk embarrassing !look no further than the dam looters half them assholes stayed back for that very reason and if you don't realize that your truly clueless !

all due respect to my buddy shamrock...but,the elderly and disabled aren`t kicking doors down and looting with ak-47`s in their hands.....

i do agree that this issue with the levee`s has been public knowledge for decades....

we`ll have to do what the dutch did after they were devastated in "53"....

it`s gonna take a very long time to right this ship.....couldn`t be much worse if a dirty bomb had been set off in n.o....probably wouldn`t have been half as bad....

it seems like people(it must be the human condition),are reactive rather than proactive.........

how many times were americans hit by terrorism prior to 9/11?....quite a few i`d say...

human nature?....i don`t know the answer...

I agree. Just like how all the signs were there prior to 9-11, same with NO. Couldn't have been any more of an obvious inevitability. I guess everyone just hoped it wouldn't happen while they were the one's in charge.

I think it is human nature. If so, maybe we just shouldn't worry about it, roll the dice, and step up like an honorable gambler when it's time to pay the price for it.

Going on 5 days. People laying dead in the street-people deyhydrating-no food-$6.00 gal. gas
The Government left-right-dem-rep-neo whatever have no clue. They can not have a revolution, That's the purpose of a National Guard, to protect them from you.

your correct dtb, over 40 percent of New Orleans is below about poverty level.

I don't see many wielding ak-47s and looting at convention Center and Super Dome, I see elderly and infants dying, mostly of thirst in the 95 degree heat.

Yep My 1st impression was why the hell didn't these people get out but is evident now most had little means to get out.
Haed to imagine just how sad situation is--as I understand not one toilet could be flushed since onset. Imagine the possiblilties of viral diseases.

Lot of finger pointing on blame but believe this is impossible situation with a city that size below sea level getting hit by catagory 5 with bulk of poplutions with no means to evacuate.
