Opening Day is here again.
Spring is eternal, and all the scrubs like the Devil Rays, Tigers, and Brewers are tied for 1st no matter how brief. Gotta love opening day, or in this case night.
YTD 2-1 Bank = +$80
All units through april are to win 100 on favorites, bet 100 on dogs
Tonights game poses an interesting matchup as Texas throws their most consistent pitcher, although 8-12 last year against the young phenom Lackey of the Angels (who wouldn't be starting if they didnt move Washburn back a day).
TEX: Ismael Valdes (8-12, 4.18 in 2002; 0-0, 0.00 in 2003; 3-2 with a 3.47 ERA in 49 1/3 innings lifetime vs. Anaheim).
John Lackey (9-4, 3.66 in 2002, 0.00 in 2003; 1-1, 4.50 lifetime vs. TEX).
I understand that Anaheim played great under pressure and won one of the best world series in 10 years. (props go to the d'backs yankees 2 years ago, best in my lifetime.) I think that there is a ton of pressure on the angels in this spot. Openeing day in front of a pumped up crowd with the dumbass monkey and plastic bats rally sticks banging all night. They haven't had a good spring at all, and you can't just turn that on right away. Valdes is a tested big league pitcher who keeps his team in games. Texas wants a win badly to start off the new regime under Buck Showalter and I guarantee they play harder this year, although the playoffs are out of the question.
Couple of players for you: Glaus and Anderson are each hitting .250 or below against Valdez with 35 at bats.
A Rod is 2 for 5 with 1 home run against Lackey
Recommended Play : Rangers +138
YTD = 2-1 Bank = +80 $100/138 texas pending
