Shigeki Maruyama(80/1)(1/4 for 1-6) e.w @ GolfingGods
- - It's a simple truth that more than any other source, my best angles come from nuggets gleaned while I'm watching telecasts. While I only caught a couple of glimpses, the Smiling Assassin came out of close to nowhere on my radar to looking impressive and confident and in fine rhythm at Wachovia.
Jesper Parnevik(100/1)(1/4 for 1-6) e.w. @ GolfingGods
- - In my parlance, Jesper "laid down a favorable marker early in the season", which in my experience frequently yields some sort of substantial dividend at the next hint of something brewing.
Both seemed like fair prices on former champions - however, prices have to be ridiculously low before I ever forsake the choices that I would beat myself up over if they came in and I wasn't on board.

Rory Sabbatini(50/1) e.w. @ Bet365
- - It's a play I can't shake (only the slashed price could have done it).
Justin Rose(150/1) e.w. @ 5dimes
- - At this point, either you have high expectations or you don't, so there's no need for a hard sell approach . . . But, coming into the season, I've been committed to playing Justin at speculative odds whenever I can see some angle or foundation as justification. I'm well aware of the technical trends in his recent game regarding putting and birdies, while still being plagued by a failure to tighten up the nature/consequences of his misses. But this time the bottom line has to do with mindset and approach on and off the course, and I thought Justin was "in a good place" after a visit to Katrina ravaged New Orleans. My 20/1 on Rose as Top European at Wachovia (I loved his opening pairing with Mediate) gave a nice run before 80's became commonplace on Sunday (Rose was a holed putt from being -1 through 2 when the stoppage and then the nasty weather consumed matters). For this week, I definitely believe that his immediate prospects are rising rather than falling, so I'm standing pat instead of venturing off with the likes of Rollins, Wetterich or Bryant, or even Gore or Tataurangi.
I'm fairly curious whether anyone can call to mind a Mother's Day angle - mom or wife - on any Tour - with real emotional potential that might be worth being cognizant of? Darren Clarke , except Mothers Day is in March in GB & I?
