Outright plays (total stake per play: 1pt)

Sean O'Hair to win 28/1 e.w. @ Victor Chandler, Sportingbet, Sporting Odds, Bet365 and ToteSport
Can see little reason not to stick with O'Hair and Kim for another week. Both gave themselves good chances for a top-5 finish in Louisiana, which, for O'Hair, was his fourth consecutive top-15 finish, but it was in this event that O'Hair (and the relationship with his father) really came to prominence two years ago. On that occasion, he held the lead heading into the final round and shot 68, but lost out to Ted Purdy by one stroke. He would win the John Deere Classic two months later and it certainly playing well enough to be in contention yet again around this course. I didn't expect to get higher odds this week than last.

Anthony Kim to win 40/1 e.w. @ Ladbrokes, Bet365, BetDirect and ToteSport
After his charge up the leaderboard on Sunday, I didn't expect to see 40/1 on the Tour's youngest player for a second week. The penalty of being so young is that he has rarely played the Tour courses beforehand, but he is the 8th best player in (actual) scoring average on the Tour and his for evidence of his ability, look no further than his #1 rank in the Tour's 'All-Around Ranking' category. He has played in Texas twice on the PGA Tour and has finished 2nd in the Texas Open and 5th in the Houston Open; there is no reason why he can't continue that form on his latest visit to Texas.

Stuart Appleby to win 40/1 e.w. @ BetInternet [6 places]
I am even more surprised by this price. Appleby has long been one of the Tour's leading player with eight victories, of which two have been in Texas, and in the last month he was a near wire-to-wire winner in the Houston Open before finishing 2nd and then led the Masters heading into the final round. A pretty impressive last two events, so his course form must be really awful to warrant such inflated odds. On the surface, it does appear so, but he has not played in this event too many times and, most notably, he was the leader after the first round last year after opening with a 63. I don't see why he can't do the same again this week.

Stephen Leaney to win 80/1 e.w. @ Ladbrokes and BetDirect
By contrast, Leaney disappointed last year. After all, he had played in this event twice previously and had shot all eight rounds in the 60s. It was not until the final round that he would shoot over 70, but he has shown enough form recently to suggest that he should start another run of 60s in this event. He led the PODS Championship in March at the cut before finishing 8th and held the lead very late in the Verizon Heritage before eventually finishing 3rd. With that form he warrants attention at this price.

I'm having a real hard time narrowing down my list this week - here's the biggest priced ones I had to bet:

1/4 1-5:
Branshaw 500/1 Stan James
Franco 275/1 Stan James
Hayes 250/1 Stan James
Kanada 200/1 Gen.
Snedeker 200/1 Gen.
Short Jr 350/1 Stan James
Stankowski 250/1 Sportingbet
Wagner 200/1 Gen.
1/5 1-5:
Byrum 350/1 SportsTAB
Gamez 350/1 SportsTAB
Took most on Betfair and looked for top 10 odds too...

Well there's no price limit - I backed Brier 50/1 last year in his home event - though I guess I have never backed anyone sub 33/1 in a full field event.

"You hit a putt and it goes anywhere," Flower Mound's Rod Pampling said. "It's going to come down to the lucky guy who wins. It's two years in a row that the greens have been really bad."

Putting doesnt seem to be a big deal.. looks like ball striking will do well here. IE Sergio, Kim a few others..

Alright fellas here goes. 2 - 0 last week. The lines are really tight from what ive seen. Thegreek only has about 10 listed. Shigeki i think is a little overvalued that being said he has a nice record on this course, so i stayed away. I looked hard at the Ohair over Allenby. Obviously Ohair is playing well and plays well here. I just think RObert is the better player and besides that missed cut at the masters has had a pretty good year. My play is.. *drum roll*

Anthony Kim -110 over Stuie Appelby
Pretty balsy play here. Like Stan can atest to Kim has never played this course. But that goes the same for almost every course this year ( since hes a rookie ). He was first last week in greens and that is crucial this week. Appelby has had back to back good weeks but hasnt played on tour since the masters. KIm is first in all round 10th in gir 7th in par breaking and birdie average. Appelby is 140th in GIR and frankly has shitty stats. His record on this course is average at best. I am just goin with a golfer who seems like he is on the verge of winning. Yet again its another tough week to cap since most of these guys didnt play last week. I also went back and looked at Kims big 12 scores when he played at OU. He did ext well in tournaments in texas..
Rod Pampling -120 over Mike Weir
Good Luck

No writeup for this one..basically this a home game for rod. He also is a better ball striker.

The shape of this course was the talk of Colonial. Caddys and Pros both bad mouth the Tourney and it was justified. Appears this year, no Change

S GARCIA wins Match pick @+20.00
S O HAIR wins Match pick @+28.00

S GARCIA OV/P MICKELSON pick @+1.20

I looked hard at the wetterich one. Obviously he plays well here but has he recovered from the masters? Poulters ball striking #s are bad but his recent form isnt.. too tough of a call. I was looking to fade hefty as well just not sure with who.. Henry and Bohn is tough. Both are playing well... and campbell is the most up and down player on the tour so he is a no play for me. Im waitin for a line on pat perez it might be time to fade him :SIB good luck steve..

I dont do these often because they normally lose :mj07: But i read that cottonwood is by far the easiest course out of the 2 and that players go a lot lower there. That being said.. the first round matchups arent by course..

So here goes

Sean O Hair (-110) over Charlie Howell
Scott Verplank (-125) over Shigeki M.

Both are first round plays Both sean and scott are playing on cottonwood.. while the other 2 are off at the 4 seasons course.

Found this while reseaching for Fantasy

The Favorites
Despite the fact that the last seven champions of this event are in Dallas this weekend, there may not be a prohibitive favorite. Defending champ Brett Wetterich is playing well in 2007, but this event hasn't seen a repeat winner since Tom Watson walked away with three straight titles between 1978 and 1980. Just two players in the field have more than three top-10 finishes at the Byron Nelson in their careers, and none of them are named Vijay Singh, Phil Mickelson, or Sergio Garcia. Those three have all won the event in the past, but none have dominated year-in and year-out. TPC Las Colinas is apparently a tough nut to crack, but those betting on a champ would have a difficult time choosing anyone but one of the aforementioned players.

The Best of the Rest
Luke Donald is coming off a solid top 10 at the Masters and hasn't finished worse than T19 in four years at the Byron Nelson. At the same time, he has just one top 10 during that span and hasn't truly been a factor to take home the title. Sean O'Hair has turned things around in recent weeks and could have some warm fuzzies as he returns to the scene of his PGA TOUR breakthrough (a runner-up finish in 2005). Shigeki Maruyama has been virtually useless all season long, but he is one of the previously-mentioned players who actually has played well year after year at Las Colinas. He has a win and three other top 10s in seven trips to Dallas for this event. The other four-time top 10 resident is Scott Verplank, though it's taken him 20 tries to accumulate that number. A native of Texas, Verplank will be a person of interest this week, as will fellow Lone Star Staters Chad Campbell (fifth last year) and Justin Leonard (just one missed cut in 13 trips to Las Colinas).

Who's Hot?
Sean O'Hair: O'Hair hasn't finished worse than T15 in his last four tournaments. He's shot under par in all but one of his last 12 rounds.

Justin Leonard: Compared to his brutal start to 2007, Leonard is practically on fire. After missing the cut in each of his first six events, he's now stuck around for the weekend in three consecutive events, culminating in a T16 two weeks ago at the Verizon Heritage.

Who's Not?
Charles Howell III: After his stratospheric early-season run, Chaz has started to re-enter the Earth's atmosphere. He has just one round in the 60s in his last three events (12 rounds) and hasn't crashed the top 15 in that span.

Ted Purdy: Purdy sprinted out of the gates in 2007, making seven straight cuts and logging four top 25s in his first five tournaments. Since then, his game has gone south, however. In the last five tournaments, Purdy has handed in three missed cuts, a DQ, and a T64.

Player Trends
It's not a fool-proof indicator of future success, but golfers who fare well at a particular venue tend to do so time and again. With that in mind, we provide a list of players who have notable trends at this week's event (most recent results are listed first).

The Good
Shigeki Maruyama (four top 10s in seven appearances)
Justin Leonard (Only missed the cut once in 13 trips to Las Colinas)
Sean O'Hair (T19, 2)
Chad Campbell (Never missed the cut in five tries, fifth a year ago)
Robert Damron (One win, one runner-up in the last six years)

The Bad
Billy Mayfair (Just one top 10 in 17 appearances)
Stuart Appleby (T27, Cut, T43, Cut, Cut)
Charles Howell III (T34, Cut, T60, Cut, Cut)
Rich Beem (Cut, Cut, Cut, T40, T39, T11)
K.J. Choi (T26, T44, Cut, Cut, T41)

The Ugly
Mike Weir (T59, Cut, T11, Cut, Cut, Cut)
