This is the one of the strangest lines I have seen in any sport in the 19 years i've been sports gambling.
Chris Ault is 0-7 SU and 0-7 ATS against BCS schools over his last 5 years in the reg. season(they did cover in a bowl in '06 vs miami).
The last 2 seasons they had pretty much the same setup as this game, a pretty good BCS school coming in to play them on their home field early in the season.
Two seasons ago, Texas Tech and Mike Leach came in and stomped them as 35-19.
Last season(in this very setup), Mizzou came in on a Friday Night ESPN game and handily beat them 31-21 with Nevada getting a late TD to make it look close(however they did take an early second half lead). On top of that, Mizzou's QB was making his first true road start of career. I was at this game and Mizzou had 40% of the croud, so homefield advantage is not as big there as other schools, since Reno is a trip visiting teams alums are willing to make for obvious reasons.
Cal has a senior QB. It is a pretty short road trip. Should be plenty of Cal fans there.
So what am I missing here? Why should i believe that Nevada can rise to the occasion when they and there coach have failed in this spot many times? I actually saw this line at Cal -2.5 yesterday at a book.
This has had me scratching my head all week.
