Is a shame-- CA is one of the most beatifull states in america--and at one time was leading state of migration in U.S.

Now more people moving out than in.

Makes one wonder why there is even any discussion on --greenie laws-immigration-big gov--big taxes--etc.

We have poster child on liberalization and the consequences all we have to do is look:0corn

California will pull through. I hope :scared :scared

But as I've so often said, if the conservative states want your liberals back, I'd be happy to send them home. Just be glad places like San Francisco took so many moonbats off your hands :SIB

Very irresponsible economics, but we will get through. It's still the 5th largest economy in the world. ...I think.

I hope Ca pulls out Smurph--I remember in my younger days if you had one state you could hope to move to it was CA--politics was the demise-

--for 4th year in row more people have left CA than moved there (don't know if illegals are counted)

Losing jobs--
http://www.bizjournals.com/sanjose/stories/2009/06/22/daily26.html
"Manufacturing 2.0: A More Prosperous California" found that California had 21 percent fewer manufacturing jobs in 2007 than in 2000, compared with a decline of 20 percent nationally and 13 percent among seven states that are competing for the same types of manufacturing jobs.

Driving the decline, the report says, are a reputation for an unfriendly business climate, comparatively high tax rates, a restrictive regulatory climate and unsustainable government spending.

Hmmm Aren't the liberals currently trying to ram through exact legislation on fed level as the answer vs the cause :0corn

So Cal
What's wrong?
1. Taxes, taxes, and more taxes
2. An incredibly inefficient educational system
3. Run businesses out of the state by overtaxing,
over regulating, workman's comp pricing, etc
4. An idiot for a governor who can't even
pronounce the name of the state properly.
5. Two of the most liberal senators. (However, I
am beginning to see some positive things
coming from Boxer and Feinstein recently.
6. The 9th Circuit Court which doubles as an
insane asylum.
7. Influx of illegal immigrants who require state
funding for a variety of social funding - medical
care, jails/prisons, etc. With recent increase
in unemployment, I believe more are now
leaving than arriving.
8. Absolutely non-sensical budget planning. Raise
spending when income is good; raise spending
when income is bad. Spend, spend, spend and
borrow what we don't have.
9. Loads of cushy government jobs for out of
work political cronies at 6 figures a year for
meeting once or twice a month.
10 A newspaper that usually supports all of the
above.

AND THIS IS JUST THE TIP OF THE ICEBURG

ferd pretty much just nailed it.

I think if the state split in two a north and south, the south would get their shit together quick while the north would continue to run itself further into bankruptcy, both political and financial. As is, it's an ungovernable state, whether you have a governor that can pronounce the name correctly or not.

Great idea about the north/south split. And thanks for welcome. I have so much more time in the summer it is easy to spend time here and it is the most interesting place.
