But here's my plays for the night:

Best Bet:

UConn laying 2 over Providence. . .

I spent a lot of quality time last night capping games, but especially this one. Looked at everything I possibly could regarding this matchup and came to the conclusion that Providence will have to hit the long ball in order to have any chance in this game. Yet UConn is better than average at guarding against the 3 holding opponents to 30%.

Yes, the game should be interesting as Providence is at home. . . I'm not gonna say that home court doesn't mean anything, but the fact remains that I see UConn with a huge advantage on offense and defense. Not to mention this team is playing great ball right now.

Regular plays:

Bowling Green +7.5 over Ball State. . .

Also played them on the ML for a small amount. . . I look for a close game with both teams having a chance to pull out the win late in the 2nd half.

Georgia laying 2 over Alabama. . .

I'm not buying into the fact that the Bulldogs will be sidetracked given what has happened. . . we do not even have a clue which players may be suspected. Might be a couple freshman scrubs warming the bench. Who knows. . . I'll take this good Bulldog team at home.

Michigan State laying 8.5 over Purdue. . .

Look for the Spartans to get back on track and have a huge night on the boards. Purdue will have to shoot extremely well in order to compete on the Spartan's floor.

So call me a sucker and get it over with. . . these are the plays that my work came up with and I'm gonna stick to what I believe in. . . figured that if I lose, then at least I didn't go against my hard work in favor of those touting the UConn pick as a trap or worry about the Bulldog scandal that cannot possibly be capped.

May the right sides win tonight :D

WilliamsAthens -- University of Georgia basketball players
Tony Cole and Steve Thomas and UGA football player
Brandon Williams have been suspended from their respective
teams pending the outcome of a police investigation into an
alleged rape and attempted rape at a campus dormitory on
Monday.

Cole and Thomas were suspended by basketball coach Jim
Harrick a few hours before UGA was to meet Alabama on
Wednesday night in Athens. Thomas, a sophomore from
Carrollton, is a starting forward. Cole, a junior from Baton
Rouge, is a backup point guard.

Williams, a reserve cornerback, was suspended by football
coach Mark Richt. He is a junior from Moss Point, Miss.

Campus police are investigating an alleged rape and
attempted rape of a female student at McWhorter Hall on
Monday night. There have been no arrests, and UGA Director
of Public Safety Asa Boynton and UGA Police Chief Chuck
Horton said there is no timetable to make one.

"Right now we are simply trying to find out from all the
people who were present their view of what happened,"
Boynton said. "And from that try to determine what the
facts are."

According to Boynton, the victim, who did not live at the
McWhorter Hall dormitory, went to visit a friend who lives
there. He said the friend was not among the suspects, but
declined to say if the friend was present when the alleged
attacks occurred. He said the alleged attack did not occur in
the dorm room of one of the three accused.

Boynton declined to say whether other people were present.

Police continue investigation of alleged rape

By PLOTT BRICE
Atlanta Journal-Constitution Staff Writer

Athens - A news conference called by University of Georgia
police on Wednesday revealed very little new information on
an alleged rape that occurred in a campus dormitory Monday
night.

Police said they will continue to investigate the incident,
which included an accusation of attempted rape and
allegedly involved two basketball players and a football
player.

According to Asa Boynton, UGA's director of public safety,
the victim went to McWhorter Hall to visit a friend, who is
not one of the three suspects. Boynton declined comment
on whether or not the victim's friend was present when the
alleged attack took place. The victim, Boynton said, did not
live in McWhother Hall.

"Currently the investigation focuses on interviewing the
people who were involved and sorting out the facts and
information," Boynton said.

Boynton said the UGA police are working in cooperation with
the Athens-Clarke District Attorney's office. He said the
department has no timetable in the case.

When asked if the student-athletes would continue to
compete in the respective sports while the investigation
continues, Boynton said,

"that is not our decision."

The Bulldogs play Alabama in a men's basketball game
Wednesday night.

Police question three UGA athletes about alleged rape

By MARK SCHLABACH
Atlanta Journal-Constitution Staff Writer

Athens - University of Georgia police have scheduled a news
conference at 2 p.m. today to discuss its investigation into
an alleged rape involving three UGA student-athletes.

On Tuesday, UGA police questioned two UGA men's
basketball players and a football player about an alleged rape
and attempted rape at a university dormitory on Monday
night. Police said Wednesday that Athens-Clarke County
district attorney Ken Mauldin has been contacted about the
incident. Mauldin's office will decide whether there is
sufficient evidence to pursue criminal charges against the
suspects.

Asa Boynton, UGA's director of public safety, refused to
identify the suspects, but did confirm Wednesday that two
of the men play on the Bulldogs' basketball team and one
was a member of the football team. Boynton said a
basketball player is accused of rape; the football player is
accused of attempted rape; and another basketball player
was identified as being an accessory to the attack.

Boynton said no arrests had been made as of Wednesday
morning.

According to a police report, the alleged attack occurred
between 9:30 and 10 p.m. Monday. A female student called
UGA police to her residence at 1 a.m. Tuesday and told
officers that a man she knew raped her and that another
man she didn't know attempted to rape her.

The woman was given a rape exam at the Athens-Clarke
Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner house.

Boynton said his department could complete its investigation
this week.

"We're going to try to do it as quickly as we can," Boynton
said. "[The investigation involves] determining what the
facts of the situation were. We hope to have it completed
sometime this week."

Claude Felton, Georgia's senior associate athletics director
for external affairs, said no players had been suspended for
tonight's game against No. 16 Alabama.
