President Obama is demanding a big long-term budget deal. He won't sign anything less, he warns, asking, "If not now, when?"

How about last December, when he ignored his own debt commission's recommendations?
How about February, when he presented a budget that increases debt by $10 trillion over the next decade?
How about April, when he sought a debt-ceiling increase with zero debt reduction attached?
All of a sudden he's a born-again budget balancer prepared to bravely take on his own party by making deep cuts in entitlements. Really? Name one. He's been saying forever that he's prepared to discuss, engage, converse about entitlement cuts. But never once has he publicly proposed a single structural change to any entitlement.

It's got noting to do with with how I want it. In spite of a few nutjobs claiming that the president can borrow money under his own authority, that just isn't so, and no serious Constitutional scholars think so. Increasing the deficit has been done 80 or 90 times, always by the Congress, never by the President. In fact that may be the undoing of McConnell's back-door trap. He may find he has been too clever for his own britches, and has unwittingly dealt Obama the case ace.

Developing a budget and paying the nations debts are clearly the responsibility of the Congress. Surely you can read the clear words of the 14th?

If you couldn't win with Obama's hand, you'd best stay away from gambling.

All he's got to do now is run out the clock, then say - "Sorry, I tried my best, but the Republicans didn't do their job, which is to enact legislation to pay the national debt. Starting tomorrow, the Chinese will get their interest payments, but soldiers and old folks suck hind tit. I'm off to Hawaii for a while, send me a telegram if Boehner and Cantor decide to do their job."
