I have an opportunity which must be fulfilled tomorrow.

Wednesday April 9, 2003

After recently establishing a new account with an offshore (an MJ's sponsor) , one of the perks to the account is a one-time lump bet of 20% of my initial deposit. The bet has a few restrictions as it must be played on either NBA, NHL, or MLB. Cannot be on a future or proposition.

This is a one time bet, side or total on one of the big three. For the most part I don't play heavy into these sports - although I would be inclined to make the bet on NHL which I know the most about by far.

That said, it doesnt matter as a winner is a winner. My only restriction is to stay away from heavy juice favs like Mussina for the Yanks tomorrow at -200. While this is not 'free money' it is a no-risk all reward perk that presents a good opportunity to jump start an account. Right now Im leaning on taking Toronto +150 over Philadelphia on the ice, but Im open to any and all suggestions.

Put yourself in this position and let me know what you would play in this situation with the card tomorrow. All feedback is appreciated.

Take Tor +1.5 and the Royals for a two team parlay........that would pay very nice (odds of $2.42)

Take the Washington Wizards. Like David Stern is really gonna let them miss the playoffs. LOL. Moneyline is -140. If you really want to gamble with the free play, take the LA Clippers moneyline at +310. Milwaukee has to lose for the Wiz to get in the playoffs. Jordan in playoffs is huge revenue for the NBA.

This play has to be a straight bet, not a series bet or parlay.

One time deal.

Just a few hours or so until the play. Prob should have taken KC Royals and sweated out the W but here's what Im considering

Toronto +145 NHL

Wash -1' -110

Jazz -5 -110

Devils -1' +155

Oakland -160 MLB

Still open to any/all suggestions.

FWIW I love the Wizards tonite. Line opened @-3 and was hit down to -1, now back @-1.5 some places. Early $$ all over Celts. With these two teams you know it will be ugly, but I'll take Jordan and the Wiz by a bucket in a must win game. GL

wouldnt play Utah.....Rockets have a great back to back record this year....

also have been a great contrarian play all year...when you think they are going good the stink up the joint and when you think they suck they put a good game together....

This was not an easy choice and in the end I went up going with a play in the NHL, but not Toronto. Thanks to everyone for sharing thoughts/opinions. Im playing the Leafs, Jazz, Nets, and Senators in straight plays on my own. However for the 'free-money' I decided .....

Playing NJ DEVILS -1 1/2 +155

The payout is too much to pass on IMHO. I know about the lack of superstar scorers on the club, noting the team does not have a 30-goal scorer. Also lurking is their god awful power play, but something tells me this team gets it done tonight.

Martin Brodeur, the odds-on favorite to win his first Vezina Trophy as one of the League's best goaltenders should shine tonight under the system at home. I also think that the second line of Joe Nieuwendyk, Langenbrunner, and Friesen has the potential to get some points on the board.

Will I be watching this game with 30 seconds left in the third up one goal looking for an empty? Perhaps, but maybe not....
