You that commercial that goes-

"At BASF we don't make any of the products you buy. We make the products you buy better"

So I'm sitting here seeing this commercial and I'm thinking
"What are they selling" They are obviously spending money on advertising and they are looking to get a return on there money.
I think they make blank cassette tapes or CDs but besides that I don't get what it is they are trying to sell or to whom?

Anybody have a clue

On the course!
They are a chemical company. I believe the largest in the world.

I think their commercials are saying, "Hey, Jackass.......we have our fingers in everything!":D

Snake- I've always wondered the same thing. They advertise no product that is for sale. The only thing I can think of is that they are advertising to businesses that might make a product that BASF could make better. But I have no clue.

They are just trying to promote name recognition. They sell mostly to other companies who put BASF's stuff into their stuff.

It is unclear how effective this type of advertising is, since the audience is mostly end users and wouldn't be buying anything from BASF.

But it is said that getting the name out there and recognized gives it a perceived aura of trust, quality, etc. and there is an subconscious goodwill created (supposedly).

Then (apparently) those who work for companies who buy from BASF will have already heard of them, and will be one step closer to buying from them.

Every red-blooded American Farm Boy knows that BASF is a herbicide company and they make and market products such as Prowl & Celebrity.

I think the main reason for there ads are for investor relations, companies like this, archer daniels midland, boeing do this to remind investors their out there, at least that is the way it was explained to me a few years ago.

Peace,
