The ESPN female sideline reporter said it was a promotional stunt by BSU back in 1986, and they had hoped to get on the cover of SI (and didn't).

You left out the best part.........She also said that birds often thin it is a lake and have taken many nose-dives into the field.

It's the SMURF's graveyard.....back when the SMURF's ruled that territory of the US, they made a pact with the BOISE ST BRONCOS, that if they would smear their bodies all over their football field when they died, that they would give them good luck and many winnings, especially ATS!:D

I mean come on, cant you see papa smurf out there waving from the 50 yard line?:D

appears that.....

The toilets may have overflowed, most likely from over using blue 1000s flushes pucks.
Hence the blue field.

Betcha it smells nice.

My daughter graduated from Boise St. She attended on a full athletic scholarship. When we took a recruiting visit there the AD took us out on the blue field. Low and behold there was a dead bird laying right in the middle of the field. AD said it happen all the time. He also told me they pay a small fine every year to the NCAA for having a blue field. I'd say with their home record it's a small price to pay. Randyman :) :)

I heard it was so the players could not be detected as easily on the field as their uniforms and field are the same color. QB's can't see the safties and cornerbacks as readily thus resulting in more turnovers. Michigan St does the same thing.
