I was reading th other thread and it got me thinking

You know, Quinn isn't a really big "pull the goalie" kind of guy. My take is he would rather take a hard fought one point loss than have a heartbreaking empty netter. He will pull Broduer if down, but he will wait til the last moment.

With the way these teams are so pumped if it's a one goal game and the net is empty, don't expect a huge effort to score from the winning team, look for simple clearing that will avoid any icing calls. Rember, fellas this is no-touch icing, the time will be stopped and the puck brought back as soon as it crosses the goal line if it doesn't go in.

I'm thinking this one is going to go to shootout. If it makes it to OT play there will be amazing defence, and both teams will prefer to take thier chances in a shootout, both tenders are not super strong on shootout or breakaway play.

For what it's worth Richter is a little better at covering the bottom which is where a lot of penalty shots end up.

I'm not going to play this game as my only lean is under 5.0 and I don't want to be hoping for a Canada loss if USA gets 3 goals.

Good luck Friends even USA (I couldn't think of better rivals)

Sorry, have to disagree.
It's Gold or nothing for this team, silver means nothing, losing by 1 or 2 makes no difference at all, Quinn would be vilified if he pulled him at the last second, doubt Brodeur would wait anyway :)

These teams would rather win it in regulation ot overtime, both hate shootouts. But I agree I think the US has the upperhand in a shootout. I like Richter over Brodeur, also the US has some great shooters.

It will come down to goaltending and the only way I see it staying under is if Richter plays like he did last time vs. Canada. Big ice surface, best players in the world, I think it will need some phenominal goaltending to keep it under.

Than again, I've been wrong before ;)

Enjoy the game, it should be fun :)
