Well, all I can say is I read it at a respected boxing site, and that maniac Mayorga says contracts were being signed! But haven't we seen some ridiculous matchups already?

Alvarez for his next defense on September 15 in Las Vegas. According to the source, some candidates include James Kirkland, Josesito Lopez, Erislandy Lara, Cornelius Bundrage, Austin Trout and Ricardo Mayorga.
Whoever the opponent winds up being, trainer Jose Reynoso plans to start Alvarez? training next Wednesday in Santa Monica.

This guy was a career junior welter. Canelo 154, so is this really that good? Alvarez should be a huge chalk here also. Who makes these match ups anyway? Probably PPV. They can kiss my ass, cause they won't get one cent from me for this circus sideshow.
I would have liked to see someone like Lara or Trout...and obviously Chavez jr, Cotto...

Agree; he should get a shot, but he is being selected for a reason. Canelo is going to rough him up. Ortiz is a sandwich short of a picnic, so it was the "perfect storm". An absolutely prepared, focused opponent in Josesito versus a semi-sane Ortiz. Alvarez is NOT Victor so I see a decision win for him.
