They took my new GPS, kids DVD player w/ Spongebob DVD (the bastards), gym bag and clothes, sunglasses. Unbelievably they didn't take my daughter's Minnie Mouse doll.

Got an appt. with an adjuster on Thursday and window is getting fixed Monday. Is it even worth it w/ a $500 deductible. Window replacement is gonna run $145. Pretty sure personal items aren't covered by my auto policy. Looks like I'm screwed 6 ways from Sunday.

Oh and thanks fvcker for ruining my day and faith in humanity. Ass!

I didn't see anything on my auto policy concerning theft or loss of personal items. It may be possible under homeowners to make a claim, but that deductible is 1k and the losses wont add up to that.

You may be able to claim the DVD player and GPS if they were permanently mounted in the vehicle. That would make them part of the car, like the tape decks or CB radios in the "old days".

Happened to us 2x within a 3 month period last year. It's not a good feeling to go outside and see glass in the street and realize it's your car, so sorry you have to deal with it.

Check with your credit card company if they are recent purchases. AMEX refunds if it is within 90 days of purchase, but that does not include car break ins. Our GPS was stolen and I sent in the application anyways, and they refunded me the 400$ in good faith since I was a customer for a long time. It never hurts to try

Unfortunately the DVD and GPS weren't permanent mounts. I thought this ass disabled my car. When I tried to start my car yesterday it wouldn't even turn over. So I pop the hood and found that he had disconnected a battery cable to disarm the security system. When I reattached the cable the damn alarm started going off. Nearly pissed ma britches. Wasn't expecting that.

I truly believe in "What goes around, comes around" so he'll get his someday. To quote a certain someone, how 'bout a bat to the fawking head.

Saint, thanks for the info. I'll try that.

Since I lived in Atlanta for several years, I now have a policy to not leave ANYTHING in my car and to always leave the doors unlocked. I would rather them steal the change in my ashtray than replace a broken window.

One morning we heard a window get broken. We ran outside and chased the guy down into Piedmont Park across the street.

The local comedy troupe, Whole World, happened to be taping some sketch comedy in the park and go the whole thing on tape.

Best part is the guy was probably going to get off when his court date came except he looked at us and gave us the "slitting throat" gesture. The judge threw the book at him for terroristic threatening. Don't remember how long he got.

You guys can't leave your GPS units out in view.

They broke in our car because the mount suction cups left stains on the windshield. We had nothing out.

Thanks for the assumption, though. Sort of like, she was dressed like a whore so she asked for it.

.

I've thought about doing this but wouldn't you then have to worry about coming out and finding some bum sleeping in your car?

A pine tree hanging from the rear view mirror is cheaper than a new window... :142smilie

of course

all theives look break into cars with suction cup residue

Did it take you two minutes between posts to come up with the mental fortitude to type that response? So because the crackheads who broke into our car did so because of the cup marks now says "all" thieves do? You are a moron.

I wouldn't think that cincinnati thieves are smarter than anywhere else, but our gps and mount were in the center console. The police told us it's common in this area for them to break into cars if there is mount residue when they hit up a street. They did the same to the car parked in front of ours as well as 6 other cars on our block that night.

I'm not sure what your big issue is.

Well found out Monday the guy who broke into my car came back sometime over the weekend, stole one of our work vehicles, drove it through our chain link fence and took off in it.

I can just see my nice little stolen Garmin GPS mounted on the windshield of this chity lookin 19 aught 4 Ford Ranger pickup.
