The Boston Red Sox take on the St. Louis Cardinals tonight in the rubber match of a three-game interleague series at Fenway Park.

Boston are 36-27 overall which is good for first place in the AL East. Last night they pounded the Cardinals 13-1 on the back of a season-high 19 hits and have now won three of their last four. Boston have scored at least eight runs in five of their last seven games. Knuckleballer Tim Wakefield takes the mound for the Red Sox and he is 3-1 in his last nine outings...overall this season he is 5-2, 5.35 ERA.

St Louis are 34-29 this season to be third in the NL Central. Right-hander Garrett Stephenson has dropped three straight decisions and last time out suffered the loss against Baltimore when he allowed five runs on seven hits in 5 2/3 innings. He has allowed one home run every two innings over his last 12 2/3 frames. The 31 year-old is winless this season on the road, going 0-3 with a 3.77 ERA. Overall he is 3-5, 4.81 ERA and tonight faces the Red Sox for the first time in his career.

The Cards are 12-17 (.413) on the road while the Red Sox are 19-10 (.655) at home.

We'll go with the hot home team to get it done again tonight.
