This is just an opinion so I hope no one gets bent out of shape, but I think North Carolina absolutely embarrassed themselves and past players by their performance last night. I understand that's the only way they had a chance, but I think it spoke volumes about how far the program has fallen and how bad a coach Daughtety is. Anyone can take 35 seconds off the clock each possesion and then kick the ball into the stands. They didnt even try to run a play of any kind. It was sad to see that moron Lang get all excited when he finally scored a basket. Maybe he can watch replays of it next year when he is pumping gas.

And yes, I did bet the over 75 points in the first half.

Normally, I would just let people vent, but a gotta say somethin....nc was blown away twice. You had to think Carolina might try something like this. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do to win a game.

It would be insane for NC to play run-n-gun again and expect to compete. I thought it was a smart and well executed game plan.

Of course, I had the under 75 and Carolina +14.5 for the first half.

You're right in that it is a sign of just how low the program has dropped talentwise. Also, be aware of other inferior teams grabbing those duke/carolina game films and breakin em down frame by frame.

when dean smith ressurrected iba's four corners offense a generation ago he was hailed as a hoops genius.

to be fair, I'm guessing that Iba and Smith didn't use it out of desperation.

That's the difference our friend Rich had a problem with.

Nighthorse,

I was thinking the EXACT same thing...are teams going to break apart the UNC/duke game from last night in an attempt to compete with duke.

there is no way that anyone (except a few elite teams like MD, etc...) can run and gun with duke. therefore, why not slow down the tempo?

If I would have bet the under, I don't think I would have had a problem with the slow down.

I guess that's basketball though and why I watch and bet it. An inferior team can play a well executed slowdown game and beat the goliaths on any day. But who would have thought that the storied program of NC would be that inferior team. I have to think everyone associated with the nc program was saddened last night watching their team having to play a style geared to give bad teams a chance to beat the better teams.

Just venting. I'm done.

These same teams that are getting beat twice a year by Kansas come into the conference tournament and run with them again, expecting a different result.....Colorado has talent, but they look stupid playing with Kansas, but they keep runnin.... .

Would think Knight might try to slow things down today. They were ran out of the building in the last match-up. He's smart enough, but his ego might get in the way.....I'd be wary of playing KU game over. Would love to hear others thoughts on the subject.

I feel the need to respond to some of these posts, and can do so from the perspective of someone who is "associated" with the program. Last night's game saddened me, not because of the style of our play, but because of the state of our program. I'm sorry you lost money on the Tarheels, but to personally feel slighted by NC is simply immature. It's betting, it wouldn't be fun if there weren't any risks involved, I'm sorry North Carolina didn't show up with your money in mind when making their game plan.

We did what we had to do to win. Yes, it was hard to see as a long time fan, and it's embarrassing that it has come to this. But it was our only chance, and our team was out there to win, not to push a total over or not. It's amazing that a team that has such a storied program has so many people come down on them so fast. Three coaches in a small span would hurt any team. I don't feel like going into it here about the fall of our team, but I will say this:

we will be back, and it probably won't be next year or the year after. but we will be back, and when we do, it will be with a vengeance.

with that said, in case any of you take an unbiased look at sports and are fans, there are some strong rumors around that all 3 freshman this year are looking to transfer. Specifically, Melvin Scott is the most likely, and Jawad and Jackie are seriously looking into it. Dougherty has stepped on a lot of peoples toes this year, not only players but upper brass. I'd say if some players leave and he has a weak year next year, he will be gone.
