looking at the 2 cars ('00 models) any input would be appreciated. Gonna be the wifes car and winter vehicle. Live in the Northeast, so winter driving is a serious consideration.

Thanks

back in my car fetish days (i drive a ford bronco now) i owned three bmw "7" cars. i can honestly say, having owned or driven about everything on the planet, that they are the one of the best driving sedans in the world. audi is fine, but no comparison to the engineering or ride of the bmw, imo. however, convenient access to dealer service is a must for both vehicles.

Right now, the Audi A8 stretched frame is the car that I most desire. (Besides the Bentley Azure:cool: )

Audi A8 review

BMW 7-series review

Living in Atlanta is like living on a showcase floor half the time. There are WAY too many BMWs out there. My business partner drives a 99 BMW 7-series, and I don't really like the interior at all. It doesn't feel inviting.

I also really like the Infiniti Q45t. This is a quality car that you don't see on every corner. They ride like a dream as well.

Between your two choices, my pick would be the Audi A8... and check into the stretch model. More room in the back when your driver is toting you around!;)

Buy her a Vett and have some fun. You to. Then get a banger of a pickup for the winter. Of course with 4 wheel drive. If you don't want USA brand. Get a Q45t. One hell of a car for the bucks.

I see BMWs all day everyday.

People may see Audis around, but you don't see too many A8s. And let me tell you, the A8 does not deserve to be grouped with the A4 or A6. It's not like grouping a 7-series in with a 5-series.

I have an older Q45. I took it into the shop for a routine service the other day, and they gave me a 2003 Q45 (not a t) as a loaner. That car was really nice. Great pickup. Add the touring package, and I'm sure it would impress. The mapping system is the coolest I've seen, too. It actually has a map that you can easily read instead of a map that you would pull off of mapquest.com.

These are all just merely opinions, though. If you have not considered the Q45t, you should at least drive one. I think you will be impressed. If I couldn't get an A8, the Q45 would be my second choice.

Since you live where you do, Porsche Boxster for the summer and a Toyota Forerunner(sp)? in the winter. It's your wife for pete's sake!

My wife seems to be happy with this package.

gl in what you decide.

KC, that is a nice package! I already have the xk8 convertible, can't short change her for the reason you just said, she is my wife!! she knows what I take in and layout in general terms w/this business/hobby of mine, she hears me playing/laying nickels and dimes, action reverses and boxes constantly, she gives me a wide berth, never a question as i am sure you are aware that is tough to come by!!! LOL!!

you guys are making me sick I work for a Buick dealer & drive a Regal or Century Demo most of the time. the price is right but a Jag? Raz, wow must be nice:) have you thought about that all wheel drive Volvo? I hear good things about it

Regardless you are not buying new so that means you are saving $$$ right off the bat

Go talk to the parts guy if you want to know if they have any trouble with the models you are looking at ;)

Geno, that is a good idea w/parts guy ;) , I never buy new, always a year or 2 old, the most expensive ride you take is when you drive a new car off the lot!! Don't mean to come off like a pompous ass, drive pick up most of the time. Been self employed since my early 20's, 17 yrs. no silver spoon, just looking for some feedback, I am not much of a motorhead!!

RAZ,

Isn't it GREAT, no better luxury in the whole world: A wonderful wife that I couldn't begin to describe in words. Sounds like you have the same, treat her right.

Jags are great cars if the service is available. Guess that holds true with any car, just prejudiced to German autos. BMW's are fine, just had a bad experience on a test drive once, about 14 years ago. Just won't look at them anymore.

A friend of mine drives that sporty Lexus, can't tell you the model off hand. He loves it and does look worth looking into someday.

Other than that, I'm not a motor head either.

Sounds like you will make a good decision.

Enjoy!

BTW: I drive a new Chevy Silverado pickup, works for me.
