When you guys get a chance, I would like some opinions on what "could" transpire should Castillo not make weight AGAIN. I seriously feel he will have a problem with it once more. I don't know if shedding those 3 lbs. would have weakend Castillo that much, but he wasn't able to shed the extra weight. Corrales, from interviews says the extra pounds is too much of an advantage and I doubt he will let it slide again. If that will matter or not I am not sure. These guys are both very confident so I am looking for you guys viewpoints. I know the box is on Castillo, but how bout everyone else?

I prefer Corrales in case you were wondering about my opinion...But I do like it more when he is a dog....

Corrales may let weight issue slide again as long as long as he could retain the belts once again...This way he gets paid and still has another big payday coming since he would be reigning champ....Although I doubt we will see a Castillo-Corrales IV if Castillo does not make the weight again.

I believe both fighters know what it takes to beat the other guy...

At +175 you can't go too wrong with either of these guys.

IMO, the smart money was on Castillo at anything under -130 :grins: Not saying Corrales can't win because his power can bail him out but I think Castillo is better overall than Corrales. Corrales has said he don't like fighting Castillo from the outside and he is at a disadvantage on the inside. I pick Castillo with a decent amount of confidence but the odds aren't very attractive on him anymore.

"the bunker"
my feelings on these two are pretty well documented....
but...this line has spiralled out of control...

i think that coralles....and particularly goossen....are going to have to think of something a little more creative than just "standing in the pocket" with castillo....castillo is physically stronger...with much better whiskers...

i think chico`s hand speed and combinations are superior....

can chico make and sustain some distance vs castillo?....that`s not chico`s game,i know....but,there has to be a plan b...

i wish i knew that goossen was going to try something else...those odds would be worth a look if i knew corrales was going to try and use that height advantage...

what`s worrisome is that all these tough fights seem to be wearing much more on corrales than castillo....

another good beating or two and corrales will be a shell of his former self...

it amazes me that these guys are going to do this "life and death" struggle(and it`s as close to that as you get in boxing) for a third time within a little over a year....(i think goossen is doing chico a disservice by throwing him back in with castillo so soon)...

and jermain taylor needs a "soft" fight after two snoozers vs hopkins....

lol...

I was very surprised to see sportsbook open -115's given that pinnacle didn't even have a line up yet.

They went out on a limb...and it broke...lol

Sure didn't last long...but long enough for me to get down ;)

Pinnacle was a bit slow putting up that number for some reason or another. It was sent in they just didn't put it up until later that night. Pissed me off I only got -124 (because I quit looking for it) instead of the -115, but I did get the -115 at sbook.

Oh another thing, early money on fights like this (fights where there will be a high volume of $$) kind of set the line but don't mean that much. The majority of the money comes in late so even if the line closes at around -200 the books could need Castillo to win.

Yeah it looked like in that last fight that the first fight did take something out of Corrales, but I am hoping they sandbagged with the strategy once they knew the fight wasn't for the titles...Corrales thought he had Castillo in the fight but from what I saw I thought Castillo was doing more damage (hate to admit that)...

Also, Goosen is not recommending that these two fight so soon again...Both fighters want the money and that is why they continue to fight each other in such a short time span.

Thanks to all for the feedback. Purely conjecture of course, but what IF Castillo doesn't make weight? Will the powers that be allow the fight to happen? We can cross this bridge when we come to it of course, but I just wonder what anyones guess is.

In my opinion of course the Corrales camp would not like this but the fight goes as long as Corrales retains titles regardless of results, but that would be the last time they would meet as "lightweights."

Both fighters want to get paid. That is why the keep running back these rematches so quickly.

Perhaps Corrales will fight in spite of a weight issue. Castillo surely doesn't want to come in over again, so if he does make weight, will he be weaker because of it. He will blow up the next day big time, but this huge 24hr weight gain may cause problems, I don't know. In any case I feel momemtum favors Castillo, but one never knows. If Corrales looks REAL good I may lay some jingle and take the odds.

I would be surprised if there are no surprises from now until the date of the fight...(i.e. trainer change, or fight doesn't go, or something else).

Thanks for the heads-up. So, what do you think about this? Boxers drop this kind of weight all the time, but Castillo, as they say, is a welterweight posing as a lite-weight. It's just that he opened up the family size of whoop-ass on Corrales last time out, I don't know if Chico doesn't still have a headache from it.
