if they do not show the final four because of a religious passing they will lose more money from their nightly viewers and the millions of people anticipating to watch the games saturday than by pissing off the catholic masses...They have a LEGAL contract to show the games, and if they do not, the NCAA and all other involved parties can sue the living hell out of them for failing to show a highly anticipated game(s) because of a religious morale

Well CBS also has a contract that requires every coach to give a halftime interview during the tournament. Coach K has never complied and what has been done about that?

But yes they will show the Final Four. Yes they will get grief about it. Yes they should get grief about. Yes it would cause a fit if they dont show it too. Yes they cant win. Yes in three days noone will care.

No the contract is to PAY NCAA for the right to show the games. They have no "obligation" to show them nor would the NCAA have any damages if they have been paid, which of course they have.

The games are scheduled for 6pm Sat, 9pm Sat, and 9pm Monday. Which is 1am Sun, 4am Sun, and 4am Tues in Rome. So unless they are having midnight mass it won't even be a conflict. Not that they would dream of breaking their contract anyways.

I don't see them losing a whole lot of money not showing the pope's memorial. Was Nike going to sponsor it?

Let me try again. There would be no breach of contract with NCAA. It would arguably be a breach with advertizers. I would also bet just about anything that there would be more viewers regarding the Pope than the hoops game. Even the highest rated NCAA game ever didint draw more than 25 million.
