Outright plays (total stake per play: 1pt)

Niclas Fasth to win 22/1 e.w. @ Stan James, Victor Chandler, UKBetting and Totalbet
Twice a winner on Tour last year, Fasth has already won once this year (Open de Espana) and has been very impressive when in Europe. He was in the top-10 for virtually all of last week until a poor last round and was similarly playing well until a final round 73 last year when in the midst of his worst run of form throughout the whole of 2005. He may be 3rd in the betting, but there is certainly value at these odds.

Bradley Dredge to win 28/1 e.w. @ BetInternet
It is a case of good week-bad week at the moment with Dredge. In the last four weeks, he has finished 6th, 33rd, 5th and 41st, so he is due a strong performance this week. And he certainly would be a very popular winner in front of his home crowd where he finished in the top-10 in both 2002 and 2003. Like Fasth, he was well-placed for a good finishing position until a poor final round last year, but his form is good and even though he doesn't win as often as Fasth, this is accounted for in the odds.

Nick Dougherty to win 28/1 e.w. @ Stan James, Victor Chandler and BetDirect
Dougherty is a player who should win a lot ever since he acknowledged that he needed to 'grow up' off the course. He has just one victory on Tour to date (2005 Caltex Masters), but almost successfully defended his title in March when finishing 2nd and has had three other top-5 finishes this season. He looked destined for another one last week when entering the final round in the top-5 (and having held the 1st round lead), but shot 78. Nonetheless, it was still a very impressive performance as he had missed the cut in each of the last three years at Wentworth. This week, he has much more confidence in his course knowledge as he finished 12th last year and so represented very good value at these odds.

Outrights:

Bradley Dredge(25/1) e.w.@ Sportingbet
- - I've seen him produce stuff recently that gives credence to his obvious ambitions here.

Graeme McDowell(40/1) e.w @ GolfingGods
- - With his swing that tends to streaky in being on or not on, I've also seen him produce stuff recently that had me very much leaning toward a play; happening upon a potential burr under his saddle from this incident " . . . didn't impress at all" elevated the play substantially; a pairing with Montgomerie and Dredge qualifies as contributing an additional favorable hue.

Ian Woosnam(80/1) e.w. @ GolfingGods
- - No one to blame but myself.

Peter Lawrie(80/1) e.w @ Bet365
- - Too much of my money.

FINAL RESULT: 0-3; -3.00pts

Fasth 49th
Dredge 7th
Dougherty mc

No chance of victory, but Dredge's over-par 2nd round proved too much to make up. He finished one shot out of the place money.

European Tour ytd: 6-20; +6.01pts
