Is anyone really that good or head in shoulders above the rest? Maybe ALABAMA!! I cannot sit and go this team is great or that team besides ALABAMA!! I think Auburn is so overrated and LSU survived. Oklahoma is decent but wait till they and Missouri play a team!! I am just not feeling any team this year and therefore feel a true NATIONAL CHAMP isn't gonna matter unless someone goes undefeated. WHICH ISN'T GONNA HAPPEN!!!

RIP ME ALL YOU GUYS WANT!! JUST MY OPINION!!

Elvis, I am more of a PITT fan. PITT grad and all. I loved the Blue until RICH ROD. PITT dominated them last yr and he said WVU played their worst game. PITT had nothing to do w/ it. **** RICH ROD!!

i was joking anyway. it is my way of cheering myself up after memphis pulled an NFL at 1st and goal at the 5yd line...... three bull$hit plays that had no intention of scoring a td. if i ever meet our off coordinator - i will need someone to bail me out of jail.

i'm glad pitt beat s F heads..... that team cost me huge twice last year. i will not bet them as a 10 pt fav again, as long as grothe is the qb.

btw, didn't bet sfla tonight either.

I feel that Bama should be ranked #1 right now based on their performance this season, but I see them as a pretender. For the record, I am usually wrong in ncaafb at a 41-47% of the time.

When did I say LSU was awsome? I simply laughed, and laughed heartily, at the comment of the Bama superiority over the rest of the nation. The following teams are clearly more talented than Bama imo:

USC #1 without question
Ohio St
LSU
Florida
Oklahoma

There are others, but these 5 are the top talent teams nationally imo. (BTW, I am interested in what others may think about this.) Please note, talent does not win titles. Just ask USC who has only 1 in their perceived reign of superiority:mj07:

And, since you asked about LSU, this is what I can tell you............

I feel LSU is as experienced, skilled and deep at DL, OL, TE, RB and WR as any team nationally. I feel the OL and DL are both the best nationally.

There is plenty of young talent at CB, and those young guys have played great this season. The safeties - though also talented - scare me, particularly b/c Miles and company are sticking with the wrong rotation back there. LSU played last week without their top LB. The rest of the LB corps is very young, but have proven to be quite skilled outside of the backup middle linebacker, who is a touch slow for my liking.

Although Trindon holliday muffed two punts a couple of weeks ago, I would put him up against anyone as a returner. Keep your lanes or he will whiz past you.

The placekicker is among the best in the nation, although the punter is inconsistent.

Of course, I didn't mention QB because of the huge ???? Sure, Jarret Lee is 2nd in SEC in passer rating (145 or so), but he has only 1 start under his belt. I like the kid, and expect him to contnue to improve, but he doesn't seem to limit mistakes like the 2 recent championship QBs at LSU - Maulk and Flynn.

I am also of the opinion that LSU has one of the best OC in the land, but am nowehere near pleased with Miles' bonehead decision to go with co-defensive coordinators.

I expect LSU to lose 2-3 games this season. UGA, FLA and Bama are possibilities, but any number of other games can lose due to the hole at QB. I hope I am wrong on this.

Bama is NOT #1... big deal, they beat a way overrated Clemson team and they caughty a UGA team on their third big game in a row... everyone said coming into the season that UGA's schedule sucked balls... Bama always starts out on fire and fizzles out the rest of the way.... Bama goes to at best the cotton bowl this year

Lee,

Why even bring Auburn up? They have a stellar defense and an offense that DOES NOT have the talent to support the spread at this time. They are ranked 13th... Not even a top ten... Every year they flirt with national recognition and by the end of year are ranked 17th...

Alabama is by far not the most seasoned team. We have more than half the season to go. As of last week, Alabama looked the best for that week.

Agree. BYU could beat Bama.... :142smilie :142smilie

Penn State is someone who may sneak into the title game..... (They must continue to blow out teams though). The Pac 12 is going to hurt each other and one team will stand out of them for top 3; Sec teams will hurt each other; one team MAY stand top 3; and then who's left?

Like Saban said, who remember's #1 this week last year? or #3? or 10 for that matter. Its Sept. and it means nothing. Too many games that could change standings so easy.....

I hate the Mormon team with a passion, but the only chance they have of losing is Utah. Both Utah and BYU are praying that each other wins outright till the final game. BYU shouldnt move up in standings at all for the rest of the season because of the weak scheduling. Utah, the same.

I was kidding about BYU beating ALA; I just like to watch SEC team fans freak out about the standings..... and how they are the best conf. etc.... SEC does have alot of great teams this year, but all this talk about who should be #1, 2, 3.... it doesnt matter. YET. Play another 4 games and then start to figure and hope your team gets treated right.

Org. St was an upset, that is for sure, but remember they are 3-1 S.U. against USC in the last 4 meetings.... (Just like S. Capper and my Chiefs are 15-3 against Denver Donkeys at Arrowhead against Shanahan as a coach, and the supposed worst team in the league CRUSHED em)

Org. St today did spook me and Utah last night. I really thought Utah would cover + some.

I just woke up and am still way ripped so the above statements prob. make no sense.... but maybe someone understands what Im saying...  :sadwave: :sadwave:

Good night peeps (again)

if Penn State can avoid the letdowns (this weekend @ purdue), i think they will beat OSU and Wisky....

plus it helps that Oregon State beat USC and then hung with UTAH (would have helped them more if they held on to win), and Penn State blew them out.....

Rankings are great to talk about....but does it realy matter......at least no yet.

September was a blast, but October will separate a lot of these teams.

The SEC pecking order will become more clear.......the powerful Big 12 will see many of their teams butt heads with one another......Penn State will play at Wisco, home vs UM and at OSU.....heck, OSU and Wisco have each other and PSU......

I think we'll see some attrition and true contenders step up and pretenders step backwards.

When October ends, here is my guess as to what we will see: Florida and USC close to being back on top. Trojans wont lose this month....a lot of others will, so they slowly, but surely move up. As a result, USC fans will come out of the woodwork and plague this forum with talk of Turnover Tuesday and early season losses dont hurt you. As for Florida, I still see them beating LSU at home and taking the Cocktail Party. Those wins sky rocket them back up the polls.

Bama, meanwhile, stays unbeaten until LSU smacks them around next month. But, they find a way to beat Auburn. Florida vs Alalbama in the SEC Titile game for a spot in the BCS Title Game. USC keeps plugging away and nabs the other spot.

Am i forgetting the Big 12? No, and if one of the contenders can get through with just one loss, I think they will get the nod over USC. But, this league is as deep and talented as the SEC. However, its the first year in a while where its had this many landmines, and I dont think anybody is going to get through it with just one blemish.

The Big 10? Um, no. Wisco beats OSU this week, but OSU beats PSU at the end of the month. Not sure how Wisco-PSU will go, but I dont think this league gets in the title game with a 1-loss team.

And, none of this takes into account the looming mid-major crisis that is BYU and Utah. I'd rather see the winner there play the Boise-Fresno winner in the Fiesta Bowl. That would be a sweet game. But, Utah or BYU playing for all the marbles vs an SEC team? That equals blow out, my friends.

Of course, all this will go in the chitter when Oregon and UK wins tomorrow, so what do I know?!?!:mj07:

Basically, anything can and will happen. Buckle in and enjoy the ride....and, most importantly, LETS HIT SOME WINNERS!!!! :toast:

Until (hopefully) Bama beats Mississippi State this year, I don't think the Tide's track record against the Bulldogs allows any Bama fan to talk smack to MSU.

The next offensive TD Alabama scores against MSU will be the first on in over 10 quarters.

Heck...as a dark horse, let's don't leave Ole Miss out...their defense should continue to get better and they appear to have a top flight offense..and if Vandy gets by Auburn...who knows...gotta love this parity... Just talking SEC here.

I have to disagree w/ one team and that is Ohio State. Bama would roll them. Big 10 is garbage!!
