OK, boys. Looking to tap my Canadian friends for a little help.

I'd like to go over some of the basic logistics of the CFL.

HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE
Best Home crowd? Will Ottawa be jacked up for new team?
Worst Home crowd? Toronto? Attendance often below 15k?

PLAYING SURFACE
All grass except one team? Is the artificial surface team Edmonton? Does the new Ottawa team play on grass?

TRAVEL
Longest road trip?
Shortest road trip?

WINNING SITUATIONS
What categories have been profitable over time in the CFL? Home dogs? Double digit dogs? Overs?

Any tidbits of info from my Canadian friends? GL, boys. Have a profitable season.

Well Chucky.... I'll try to answer a few of your questions...

About the playing surfaces.... you have it backwards.... all teams have artificial turf except for Edmonton which has grass..... Now i'm not 100% sure about Ottawa... but I think they have grass as well....

About the crowds...
Montreal is always a sell out.... and its usually pretty tough to go to Taylor field and play against the Riders... with the fans and the extreme weather elements.... The wind gets so strong at times that the game becomes a 2 qtr game... meaning you only have 2 qtrs with a chance to score... the other 2 qtrs you are just trying to survive the qtr and get the wind back on your side...

For the worst crowds.... I'd say Toronto and BC.... Not that fun sitting in a Dome during the summer... BC and Tor had a measly 9000 fans for the exhibition games.... compared to 19,000 every where else..

For the travel lengths... I'll put the teams in order from Left to right on the Map... so if you take the first team on the list and the last team on the list, that would be the farthest trip.... etc

BC
Calgary/Edmonton (very close to each other)
Saskatchewan
Winnipeg
Hamilton/Toronto (very close to each other)
Ottawa
Montreal (pretty close to Ottawa)

So BC to Montreal is the longest Trip.... and Calgary to Edmonton, Hamilton to Toronto and Ottawa to Montreal are the shortest trips...

Hope some of this is usefull

Take this fwiw, but Ottawa's FieldTurf plays more like grass from what I've read. Could be a factor:

"Frank Clair Stadium has undergone $9 million in renovations in just over two years, including installation of Field Turf, an artificial playing surface that looks and feels a lot like natural grass and is noticeably more forgiving than the older, harder Astroturf.

"It's a polyester fabric that is filled with rubber and silicone sand that gives it much more bounce than the old Astroturf," said Greg Giek, the events co-ordinator at Lansdowne Park, which houses Frank Clair Stadium. "With the sand and rubber, Field Turf also doesn't absorb water, which is also a good thing.

"The players will find with this surface that they'll have to choose between wearing a full cleated shoe or a turf shoe."

The Field Turf also is spared from the harsh conditions created by snow and extreme cold. An inflatable dome is constructed over the playing surface during the winter, allowing patrons to play both soccer and field hockey. "
