Ticat notebook

* The Ticats added yet another linebacker yesterday, signing National Football League veteran Derrick Pope to the practice roster.
The six-foot, 232-pound Texas native was Miami's seventh-round draft pick in 2004. He played four seasons with the Dolphins, compiling 147 tackles, two quarterback sacks, two forced fumbles and two interceptions in 55 games. He was signed by Minnesota last year, but released in August.
He's been on the Ticat negotiation list for some time, his combination of size and speed making him a CFL-type linebacker, according to GM Bob O'Billovich. The team will look at Pope at both the middle and weak side positions. O'Billovich said the fact Pope is a veteran is also a selling point. "It's not like bringing in a guy straight out of college. Once our season's started, it's better to bring more experienced guys in because they will make the adjustment quicker than a kid right out of school."
* Middle linebacker Otis Floyd missed practice yesterday after suffering what's believed to be a mild concussion on a vicious helmet-to-helmet hit with Winnipeg quarterback Stefan LeFors.
Bellefeuille was unsure of his status for Thursday's game.
"Otis is day-to-day right now, it's probably not as serious as we originally thought," he said.
Receiver Airese Currie, who made three catches for 42 yards against Winnipeg, also sat out.
The news was better for running back Terry Caulley and defensive end Khari Long, who both missed the game against the Bombers.
"Both were at practice and both looked good, so we'll have to make a decision after practice (today)."
