a mistake by the books.....i grabbed it and apparently,so did many others....it`s now -140......doubtful that byrd stops holi, even at 40 years old......and if holi couldn`t figure ruiz out,he is in big trouble vs byrd....this is byrd`s big chance.....if he can go the distance vs the klitschko`s,holi`s not gonna stop him....byrd won`t stand and exchange like rahman, and therefore will be less likely a holifield butt victim....you can go broke underestimating evander, but,he is 40 and byrd is very slick and tough....holi couldn`t catch ruiz...and i don`t see many fighters on holi`s resume that even remotely resemble byrd`s style.....moorer `s feet were stuck in cement....holi likes guys that fight him....he`s got a very bad style match-up here...he never wanted to fight byrd...but,he had no choice to get back in the heavy picture....i only pray that holi doesn`t finally hit the wall big time.....it`s coming...didn`t want to lay -250....this is perfect......hope i don`t outsmart myself....

Here's what I see as crucial in this fight:

Byrd is a southpaw, and Holyfield had a lot of trouble protecting his left side against Ruiz, and to an extent against Rahman. I think he has a blind spot out there, and Byrd maybe can get that right jab and right hook in. If he couldn't see Ruiz's straight rights, I don't think he's going to be so adept at blocking the right hook which comes from even further outside.

Do I want to lay the -250? Maybe not. Holyfield still has a way to frustrate guys. He's good at stealing decisions and draws. He can take a lot of punishment.

I've been waiting for the fight where Holyfield looks like a tired old man. He gets worn down after flurries. Will Byrd take advantage?

He sure is a guy you can go broke betting against though. He's got veteran savvy and will butt heads if he feels like it (cf. Tyson, Ruiz, and Rahman).

I'm probably not betting it but if I do, maybe Byrd: 25->10 at SIA.

Nice pick up on the +140, weas. I hope Byrd beats him, and for your sake, by decision.

GL.

Nice pick up indeed at +140. My place today had Byrd -240. I am a little afraid that if the fight is anywhere close, Evander will get the decision whether he deserves it or not. Does anyone know who the referee or judges are?

seems like a solid bet. I just can't find myself rooting against Holyfield. He's been in some of the best fights over the last 10 years. I'm not sold on Byrd though (although he probably can outpoint Evander).

On the lake. Setting hooks!
This is a very hard fight for me. To many feelings involved. Plain and simple I can't stand Byrd. While he has talent. I can't stand his stlye of fighter. And when he loses he hates to give much credit to the victor. I have always liked Holyfield. The man is hall of fame bound. One of the best fighters of my lifetime. I just like him. I would love to see Holyfield knock Byrd flat out cold. I mean where he is lying flat out on the canvas. You know. Where in the end Byrd can't have that smirk on his face saying they didn't do nothing to me.

But I learned a long time ago. You don't always get what you want. The Holyfield that beat Tyson the first time would in my opinion whip this guys ass. But this is a Holyfield of 40 years old. The way I see the fight going is nothing but a track meet by Byrd. The guy has real good defense. Like Wilford Benetize.(I spelled his name wrong I know). Holyfield will have his moments. Trust me. But if Byrd has the right judges. He will win a decision. But trust me. Holyfield is a live dog. He has the power to put Byrd out. Just don't think he will catch the sprinter.

I'LL GIVE BYRD HIS CREDIT. HE BEAT A 40 YEAR OLD HEAVYWEIGHT. BUT I HOPE OTHER HEAVYWEIGHTS WATCH THIS FIGHT. ROUGH THIS M FUKER UP. STAY IN HIS CHEST. TURN IT INTO A BRAWL. I'LL PUT IT ON THE LINE. BYRD WILL NEVER BEAT THE BIGGER UPPER ECHLEON HEAVYWEIGHTS. HE CAN'T TAKE THE CONSTANT BEATING FROM THE BIGGER HEAVYWEIGHTS. BUT THAN AGAIN I'M BIASED. I HATE THIS GUY BYRD MORE THAN I'VE EVER HATED ANOTHER FIGHTER. THIS STICKING YOUR TOUNGE OUT SHOWS TOTAL DISRESPECT FOR THE OTHER FIGHTER. I HATE HIM. I ONLY HOPE I LIVE TO SEE HIM CLOCKED LIKE IKE DID TO HIS ASS. SORRY. I HAD TO VENT.

i love holi,too...

i wish he`d retire before he gets hurt.....this was a terrible "style" match-up for holi.....byrd +140 by decision was as good a prop as i`ve seen in years.....just can`t wear your heart on your sleeve where money`s concerned..........g.l.

There certainly is no reason to root for this arrogant guy unless you had money on him. It wasn't easy to do that, he is not a likeable fighter. He has the skills to make certain boxers look ridiculous, as he did with Holyfiled. I don't have quite the distaste for him that Smoke does, but I would pay to see him get knocked around the ring by someone else. Note that despite the barrage of (mostly slapping) jabs, Byrd didn't (couldn't) even raise a welt on Evander's face.

very true,ferd

very true,ferd

evander was hardly marked....byrd is still fighting an amateur style.....unfortunately,at evander`s advanced age,he can`t fight the pace needed to offset the slapping, point scoring, pitty pat punches of byrd....make no mistake, byrd is a tough guy and hard to outpoint...

True GW. Byrd is very difficult to outbox. Of course everyone should know that's not the way to attack him. In the heavyweight world today there are two types of heavyweights. The super big heavyweights. Where in my opinion Byrd dose not belong. The older Klitscho brother had him beat easily until the shoulder injury. Granted he quit. But until that point he was whipping Byrds ass. Of course WK beat him easily. I don't think he has a chance of even hurting the big super heavys. Then you have the just big heavyweights. The Tua's, the Johnsons, ect. Byrd is the smaller and lighter punching of all heavys out there. You need a heavyweight that will spend the whole fight roughing him up. Body attack. No let up. A Holyfield of a few years ago would have cleaned his clock. Ike stayed on his ass to. Byrd is having sucsess with the old heavyweights. And the slow footed ploders. Example Tua. IF he fights the young big upper eschleon heavyweights. The ride will be short. I for one can't wait. All thou if Jones beats Ruiz. Which I don't think he will. A Bryd-Jones fight would be interesting. That will be the only time I'd pull for Byrd. As Jones is at the top of my "I want to see get beat" list. Byrd is 2nd.

I actually like Byrd's style. It's something different, and kind of like the drunken master. I hope he stays with his mother and father because a real trainer would have him trying to look like other heavyweights.

I suppose he's up there in the class. He did beat Tua and Vitaly, but he got cleaned out by Wladimir. He's small but there's not a lot of guys I'd put ahead of him.

And, he always seemed nice but that sticking the tongue is pretty lame, especially against Evander who has always been a class act. He gave evander no props after the fight saying that none of his shots landed cleanly. His style also was a style where he was showing evander up, instead of just beating him. Not a very classy fight.

How about Larry Merchant getting into Don King after the fight? Everyone on earth wants to see Lewis fight Wladimir. If it doesn't happen, it's Don King bullshit.
