Not sure when Prop bets became popular when handicapping but I fell for them. I realized they are the greatest Christmas gifts to give to my friends because they last so long. My 5 racquetball partners that I play with everyday 4 are Texas Longhorn fans. So each one gets a Christmas card with a few prop plays in it. They love it and put the bets on their refrigerator and instruct their wives " do not throw out" So they have Texas football winning the B-12 and national championship . They also have a few Texas winning over 9.5 games and Bijon Robinson winning the Heisman. My dentist is a washington Redskin fan So I give him a Washington Redskin Super Bowl win plus a NFC East conf championship . These people who aren't gamblers like us sick people and love this because the odds pay so much and its a season long active ticket. Now over the years I have lost making these plays for everyone but a few have hit. They are long shots . One of my racquetball partners has a famous son in the NFL and is a Baylor grad. So he and his wife won Baylor winning the national basketball championship last year and they won the girls the year before. Anyway I'm sure I lose more money playing prop bets then win but I handicapp Kansas -1 over Texas . Lost the game and was upset but this morning went up stairs into my prop bet box and saw I had 3 winning tickets for Texas to win the B-12 championship one to win the national championships about 5 Bijon to win the Heisman , NYGiants to win the NFC east ,Jordan Spieth to win the US Open,Josh Allen and Mahomes to win the MVP. Did Mahomes win it? That was +750.. and I could go on and on trying to figure out winners and losers. I;m sure there are many more losers but when you put $40 to win $200 -300 its like betting long shots at the race track. Anyway although I thought I lost and watched the Kansas Texas game on TV I really should of been going for the Longhorns .
Leaving for Philadelphia on wed/ Have about 20-30 prop bets made over the summer , Some are winners and many are losers but have a Philadelphia Phillie ticket to win the NL ,another Marshall - over Texas State in basketball and a few other winning tickets . Just going to hand them in and let the machine read the bar code . I go to Harrah's Philadelphia which is really outside of Philly about 2 miles from my daughters house in Swarthmore PA.. What a beautiful casino with a trotter track .. Gotta run . and although Kansas lost I still won Go Longhorns
