After a two week hiatus, I'm going to jump back in the pot. Still have to run my figures for this week, but I've been looking at this game. Could this be a possible SD ML bet?

Cincy's next three games are on the road after a two game home stand, both of which were games they've won...

SD is starting a two game home stand and are merely posers. This is a dangerous team who have the capability to upset teams: See the Minnesota Vikings.

Cincy has to travel to SD, and while they have won 5 games this season, none of those have been out of the state of Ohio (their only road win was against Cleveland), for an 0-3 out of state record. Traveling across two time zones off an enormous, and enormously emotional, win is difficult. Playing on the road is difficult...

...winning three games in a row, for the Bungles, is even more difficult. They haven't accomplished that feat in Lord knows how long, let alone having to win that third game on the road. Can anyone say Boomer Esiason?

So they've beaten Houston and followed that up with a win against KC, both games at home. Now they travel to SD to face a bad team in a nice climate. Well, they already lost to the Arizona Cardinals at Arizona - same type of situation.

Futhermore...

Next week they face Pittsburgh at Pittsburgh. The week after that they face Baltimore at Baltimore. Two divisional games. Two games on the road. Two huge games if the Bengals are going to have any chance at winning this division. Seems to me little Doug Flutie and the Chargers could very easily be overlooked in a situation that is going to be hard enough to win in by itself.

It's a nice idea to think about - that the bengles can turn it around and win the division this season. However, 4 of their next 6 games are on the road and against decent oponents, by Bengles standards. I mean, c'mon, this team was 1-4 with losses to Oakland and Pittsburgh (at home by the way) 6 weeks ago. Then when they had to travel to Arizona after a big win against Baltimore, they blew it and got beat by a field goal.

Rome wasn't built in a day and I see a huge letdown spot for Cincy here...

What do you guys think?

PS. my apologies if this type of thread has already been posted. I haven't had a chance to read through everything yet. Oh, and that title is supposed to read "Cin @ SD".

He's a big dumb animal, folks.

GL this week!

Marvin Lewis has this team focused right now. They started out the week with loudspeakers surrounding the practice field and practiced silent snap counts in preparation for this weekends game. This is the first time they have done that this season. Cincinnati also flies out for away games on Friday instead of Saturday this year. This may not seem like much, but it reduces the effect of jet lag.

Tomlinson's comments this week about Cincy will also have the Bengals focused for this game. They are determined to show the league that they are a different team and they know that by winning on the West coast will erase one more negative image of the organization.

Cincy's O-Line is playing the best it has all season and is making life good for Rudi Johnson and Jon Kitna. Cincy will try to establish the run and control the clock the way that they have the past 2 weeks. This should open up the passing game for C. Johnson and P. Warrick to make some big plays. Warrick is finally playing up to his potential and I think that his best days are yet to come.

The #1 reason this team will not be labeled the Bungles anymore is Marvin Lewis. He is a big time motivator who expects the best from his coaches and players. It is amazing how he was passed over all those times for previous head coaching positions....

Just my thoughts...... But I wouldn't judge this Bengal team by the trends of previous ones.

:soapbox:
