It's Crosstown Shootout week. But while fans may be able to start dissecting the matchups for Friday night's Cincinnati-Xavier game, the two participants have some business to take care of before turning their attention toward each other.
The Bearcats (5-1) play host to Toledo (3-3) at 8:05 p.m. today at Shoemaker Center. The Rockets defeated UC 69-66 last year in the Gatorade Rock-N-Roll Shootout in Cleveland. However, they lost three starters and have just one senior this season.
UC senior Jamaal Davis called it ?revenge week.? Toledo and Xavier beat the Bearcats last season.
Senior Steve Logan added: ?(Tonight's) game is just as important as the Xavier game. We need wins in both of them. We can't look past this one. When we get the Toledo game over with, that's when we can start concentrating on Xavier.?
The Musketeers (4-2) play host to Wisconsin (3-5) at 7:30 p.m. today at Cintas Center. The Badgers handed XU its worst loss of last season, 61-46, in Madison, Wis. However, they lost six of their top seven scorers.
UC and XU are both coming off 51-point victories Saturday. They will play at 9 p.m. Friday (ESPN) in XU's Cintas Center.
?We're all Wisconsin,? XU coach Thad Matta said. ?It's just one focus. They know about taking it one game at a time. We're not even going to talk about (UC) until Tuesday.?
