You know what makes me SICK ! NY comes into Boston and destroys them 19-8...Are fans in Boston throwing stuff on the field or at players ???

Now how about A-ROD...IS he a f*cking idiot ?

What could he possibly be thinking ? Slapping the ball from Bronson's glove like he's playing god damn FOOTBALL ? Why didn't he just tackle him ?

F*CKING CLASSLESS YANKEES WHO NEED TO CONTINUE BUYING CHAMPIONSHIPS...Sheffield & Giambi on STEROIDS....It's time for the EVIL EMPIRE TO CRUMBLE !

Official rule on A-Rod interference play
From the Official Baseball Rules:

Rule 2.00.
Interference:
(a) Offensive interference is an act by the team at-bat which interferes with, obstructs, impedes, hinders or confuses any fielder attempting to make a play. If the umpire declares the batter, batter runner, or a runner out for interference, all other runners shall return to the last base that was in the judgment of the umpire, legally touched at the time of the interference, unless otherwise provided by these rules. In the event the batter runner has not reached first base, all runners shall return to the base last occupied at the time of the pitch.

I would have quit watching baseball forever if the umps would have missed that call and it cost the Red Sox the game............

Good for the Umps for getting both calls correct in such a big game...........

The Rumor Mill here in The Bronx is that AROD does not talk to Yankee Announce Big Jim Katt because Kaat has made observations of ARODS casual cavalier playing.

Umps are also starting to not like him either because he is always pussying up and crying about calls. How many times have The Red-Sox gotten fawked over this series by the UMPS.
Thank goodness they got that Home-Run correct last nite too.

But AROD is not really liked..he is too aloof and arrogant!

and besides PEDRO drilled him. HE HE HE LOL

Last year I rooted for the Yankees because of Pedro and manny being crybaby losers. This year A-Rod gets the crybaby losers award. I have always hated him for demanding such a high salary. I think he made more money than the whole roster of the Pirates a few years ago in Texas. Being a small market fan, I hate teams that buy everyone to win when other teams can't compete. Will the Pirates ever win again?

i guess you guys feel the same way when an offensive lineman intentionally holds to protect the qb, or when a football player commits a personal foul.sometimes those fouls are done intentionally.

it's not like arod took out a lead pipe & beat the pitcher over the head with it.

he had no mal-intent. it was a bang, bang play.

arod got caught & the umps did a good job by over turning it.

the fans acted like any other fans. not one fan stormed the field.

onto tonights game, which the red sox will probably win.

Not a big fan of arod, but I see absolutely nothing wrong with what he did. I just shows me he's a competitor who will do anything to try and help his team win, kind of like Jeter.I'll take a guy like that on my team anytime.
What was the downside if he got caught? nothing The umps could have blew the call.

As far as the yankee fans, they're a bunch of crybabies like the players on the chicago cubs.

I understand A-Rod's motivation for slapping the ball out (i.e. winning, heat of the moment), but for some reason I expected better out of him. The man's not a bench player, but makes a gazillion $$$ and is supposed to be a role model. That's all.

Besides, if he's a true competitor, then he'd play within the boundaries of the rules, not slap a Arroyo's arm like a friggin' sissy while the ump's vision is obstructed and try to get away with it! I hope little leaguers DON'T learn from his example.

you guys crack me up.

i guess you guys never played competitive ball.

you play the game to win.and do whatever it takes to win.

if your playing defensive back in football, & the guy that you are defending is about to beat you long, you try to hold him, trip him or anything else to prevent him from beating you.

if you are playing offensive line & the guy your blocking beats you on a pass rush. you hold him, trip him. or anything else to prevent him from getting to the qb.

if you are playing hops & guarding somebody in the low post & who is trying to score. you elbow him,you push him, you hold his jersey, you do anything you can to try to limit his success against you.

if you are playing hockey & you are a defenseman & a guy on the other team is about to get out on a breakaway. you do anything you can to prevent that. even if it means throwing your stick at his feet.

you do anything you can to get the job done. that is the real world.

sometimes you get away with it & sometimes you don't.

well cant sleep for 24 hours straight I tried though man do i burn and itch, ok on the play

I have been around baseball or was lets say for almost 15 years playing and coaching college and up, nothing wrong with the play and not a yanks fan far from it.

Interference happens lot of times and is not call the same as obstruction which is a different rule both are there to protect the runner or fielder in making sure play is normal and no impeding of running or fielding of the ball takes place. This is not something you think about doing it just happens, your mind does not think that fast, you are reacting on both parts to the play. Hell you could call Interferance almost on 2/3's of all double plays because runner is not with in hands reach of bag or runner slides through the bag which are both outs on runner and batter but never called that much in pro, you do see it in college a lot. But this is a reaction not a planned play or action that you practice in the spring, nothing wrong at all with what he did except it was clear interference, not like he planned it or meant to cause harm, people really need to know the game and think before they cry foul and say it was a dirty play , it was not it was a action and reflex that is all and the right call was made, no malice to hurt another player or anything like that if there was he would of been out of game, your mind can't think that fast , the same as a pop up where a guy is on first and ball is hit in inf or infront of plate i hear people all the time yelling hell he should of dropped the ball, well you can't your mind does not work that fast it reacts and the reaction is to catch the ball. this was nothing more then a reaction inwhich lead to a interference call which was right no more no less, it was not a cheap short nor was it dirty it was a reaction.

good points, but.....

good points, but.....

.....you guys are missing the irony that JETER WOULD'VE ADVANCED TO SECOND AND INTO SCORING POSITION IF A-ROD DIDN'T CHEAT. Instead the Yanks pay the penalty and Jeter was sent back to first!

If winning means cheating and getting away with it, then that is the wrong message we are sending to our youth. There's a difference between playing hard and cheating.

Those things which AR posted do happen a lot. But if sports is a microcosm of society, then it's okay to drink underage, use drugs recreationally or steal another's identity if you think no one's going to get hurt (flawed logic, for sure). WRONG!!!

it is far from cheating it is a broken rule is all the same as a foul in hoops or holding or something in football far from cheating, and let me tell you almost half of the pitchers in baseball do cheat, with scuffing of ball with something or a loaded ball , this happens all the time same as players with corked bats tons of them, interference is not cheating get a grip it is a breaking of a rule like a foul in hoops , most guys would of throwen up the flipper as a runner because they almost ran into each other but far from cheating you are lost in your own mind.

The fans why yes that is wrong and happens in all sports go to a nfl fb game and see how much shit gets throwen on field, well baseball is no different it happens and it is wrong but not the teams fault. and gecko trust me I am not missing anything I coached in pro ball and D1 so i think i know the difference between cheating and breaking a rule from the rule book. part of the action is for the base runner who advances on int. has to go back to the base he was at. same as a holding call the team loses yards from the spot of the foul. IT IS FAR FROM PLANED OUT CHEATING UNREAL! AND FUK YOUTH LET THEIR PARENTS BE THEIR ROLE MODLES SO SICK OF PEOPLE SAYING HOW ABOUT THE YOUTH WHEN IT COMES TO SPORTS, THIS IS A BUSINESS NOT A GAME, A JOB THE SAME AS A COP FIREMEN ACCOUNTANT, SCREW THE ROLE MODLE TALK, THAT IS LAME AND OVER USED IF YOU HAVE A CHILD YOU BE THE ROLE MODLE NOT SOMEONE ON TV(Not saying this at you gecko, just a point about role modles in sports)

have a good day.
