College Football Playoff announces national title could be decided by forfeit

If a team is unable to play in a semifinal because of COVID-19 cases, that game will be forfeited. If two teams from the same semifinal are unable to play because of COVID-19 cases, the winner of the other semifinal will be declared the national champion. If three teams can't play, the team that is available to play on Dec. 31 is the champion.

Hard to imagine why anyone would consider testing at this point outside of the immunocompromised. Omicron is contagious as hell and closer to its first cousin, the common cold, than to delta. Studies in South Africa, England, Scotland show less severe illness. Hospitalizations and death rates far lower than previous variants. This is the missing link between pandemic and endemic. This is also the variant that will push us to herd immunity worldwide.

In the last 9 seasons the worldwide the NHL TV viewing audience averages at 10.95 million per game. For the playoffs it averaged at 18.91 million per game.


And then there is the live audience.

32 of the last 34 NHL games were postponed.

71 percent of the NHL games that have been postponed in the last two weeks were because of the "cross border" situation. The amount of postponed games would have been fewer if the games were Canada versus Canada teams or USA versus USA teams.

With that being said, parts of Canada are already "shutting down" (Quebec for one) so I predict more games will be postponed or cancelled.
