College Football season kicks off at betED.com
Aug. 30, 2007

Today is Christmas for College Football fans, as the 2007 season kicks off with 11 games, part of a full slate of 59 games in Week 1 of the NCAA Division 1-A Football schedule.

And betED.com has a full slate of odds for all the College Football action, including first-half lines.

The only team that might not be too hyped about the first week of NCAA Football is the Idaho Vandals, who face the unenviable task of taking on the No. 1-ranked University of Southern California Trojans, a team widely predicted to win the BCS National Championship.

The Vandals are 46-point underdogs going into Saturday?s game against the Trojans at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, a game that can be seen on FSN at 10:15 pm ET.

USC, which has won the Pac-10 Conference six straight seasons, will be aiming to reach the title game for the fourth time in five years this season. Last year, after losing their final game, USC was relegated to the Rose Bowl, where they beat Michigan.

The Vandals lost their final five games last season, ending up 4-8 overall and in sixth place in the Western Athletic Conference.

Other notable games include the No. 2 LSU Tigers battling the Mississippi State Bulldogs tonight, and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets facing the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Saturday.

At betED.com, the Tigers are 20-point favorites (-4500 moneyline) to beat the Bulldogs, with the game total at 45. The Yellow Jackets-Fighting Irish game is expected to be much closer, with Notre Dame a 2-point favorite. The latter game is on NBC at 3:30 pm ET.

LSU, picked to win the SEC, is coming off its second straight 11-win season, which was capped by blasting Notre Dame 41-14 in the Sugar Bowl. The Bulldogs, meanwhile, are projected to finish last in the SEC West, and they have lost six straight season openers.

Georgia Tech was 9-4 last year during the regular season, and lost the Gator Bowl 38-35 to West Virginia. Notre Dame had just two losses in the regular season in 2006, but their 41-14 loss in the Sugar Bowl ended the season on a negative note.
