Between Green Bay and Iowa City
NCAA YTD: 1-1-0

Minnesota(-6) for 1*
I wish it was a customary evening game and their lousy fans were in the seats. Regardless, the Gophers in the Dome can be a tough nut to crack when they want to play, and the lead-in to this game looks a lot like more so rather than less so. Included in that mix is the unsettling situation from last week when just about anything was possible, and all reports indicate that their always suspect defense played tough throughout.

Florida State(-14) for 1*
The Seminoles are coming after the defending conference champs with two weeks to prepare and Maryland has not looked up to the task.

Still considering a few more . . .

Adding . . .

Iowa State(+3') for 1*
Last year was the first, and will this be the second class of Iowa seniors that fails to beat the Cyclones? It doesn't feel quite right when you have about 20,000 visitors in your house giving you the business. Iowa comes in after a significant effort to right their road woes. Once again both teams are better on the offensive side of the ball, and yet a shootout would go against recent form in this series. The stop unit for ISU has shown me more, while Iowa looks to have shored up it's special teams woes. With Seneca Wallace always valuing the football and leading the Cyclones, an Iowa victory will come by the skin of their teeth.

Miami (Ohio)(+13) for 1*
LSU under Nick Saban so impressed me with their play at the close of last year, QB injuries and all, that I had this team circled to keep an eye on in 2002. The early returns are now in, and while Saban may or may not be doing a good job, his team is struggling to sustain anything, much as the prognosticators predicted for this revamped team. On the other hand, Miami (Red Hawks??) has shown plenty. I look for a tussle in which LSU gets the win and Miami doesn't let up or let down.

I'll probably wish I had played these (instead):
Michigan(-4)
Mississippi(+5)
Penn State(+5)
