computer help

I just purchased a Dell 9100 computer and will be hooking that up in the den where my old Dell was at and moving the old one upstairs.Now my ? is i am going wireless and have also a purchased a Netgear router and Netgear adapter..Can somebody put into simple term's of hooking this up...Computer lingo and set up are not my gig..So any help will be much appreciated..The router i take it will be in the den where my computer is hooked up to a Verizon DSL and the adapter i take i take it will go in the old computer that i am moving upstairs..Ah heck the nuts and bolts of it is how in the heck do i hook it up...I have not received it yet so maybe it is not that difficult..Any advice or simply stated instructions would help....I know there a lot computer guru's out there.What plugs into what and goes where?

Okay, lets see if I can help here

For your old computer, you will just need to take the ethernet cable and plug it in from the router to your computer. The wireless card should go in the dell that will be downstairs.

Look in the directions of the router, it should tell you how to configure it from there.
