Guys, I;ve got a internet problem thats driving me absolutely fawking nuts trying to get my plays in!

--I use thebigbook.com and a local, but have been going more toward the convenience of the net. Problem is, I can;t get on thebigbook on AOL cuz its Java based ...

--But, I downloaded IE 6, which will load basically every site I've tried other than thebigbook. It cant find that site for whatever reason.

--Then I downloaded Opera, which worked great on thebigbook.com for a few days. But now it, like IE, can find almost any site but that one. Its very strange. I've also tried to re-up my old betonsports.com acct, but I can;treach the re-up page on any of these browsers ... so frustrating! Its like the two pages that cant be opened on the whole web are those two.

Of course, I'm connecting to AOL, then opening these browsers. It should work, and the service people at both places seem like no one else is having this problem. Ive tried deleting cache, cookies, everything!

I would really appreciate it if anyone here who knows computers could help me with this so I dont have to keep callin' them in and using computers elsewhere.

The obvious knee-jerk response to this is to get rid of AOL and sign up with an alternative ISP, which is always recommended.

Also, make sure your browsers are configured to accept cookies.

When you open Opera....

1. Click File

2. Click Preferences....

3. Select Privacy (it is the second from the bottom on the left)

4. Make sure the "Enable Cookies" box has a check mark in it

5. Select "Automatically accept all cookies" in the first drop-down box below the "Enable Cookies" box.

6. Select "Accept from all servers" is the second drop-down box below the "Enable Cookies" box.

7. Click "Apply"

8. Click "OK"

I hope this helps. If it does not, please give more details about your system (Operating System, Firewall software if any, etc.)

Have you tried different Java settings in IE6 Options? I just went to BigBook and had no problem getting on the site although I'm trying to reload since I don't really have an account there but I was able to view the lines.

Like timbo said, it's always best to find some other ISP than AOL, it just causes so many wierd problems with some of these sites and it's damn near impossible to figure out.

Sorry I don't have a better idea for you.

Thanks Timbo, will have to try that ..

Skinar-I've tinkered with the settings, but I generally have no clue what I'm doing unless I have explicit directions.
