Consider this proposition......

Any given Sunday during football season you have the opportunity to bet 5 games. You have a choice...you get to pick the sides of any 5 games but your opponent gets to pick size of wager (within a range that both can afford to wager)....or you can pick the size of the wager and your opponent picks the sides. This agreement will continue for the whole season (5 games per Sunday)or until someone taps out. WHICH would you choose...(for the whole season) Pick the sides or pick the size of the wager for ALL the games each Sunday. (Same size wager for all games with option to change each Sunday)

Just an average Joe with good knowledge of the game. Trying to figure who has the advantage//control the picks or control the wager size????????????????????

Money Management IS the key...

Pick the wager.

It would depend on the range of wagers...if it was say, one to three units, where you had to bet at least one unit on each game, then I say take the sides...but if the range was 1-100 units (that essentially let you lay off 4 out of 5 games, with an insignificant wager on 4 of them), then I would say take the money side.

You mentioned the stakes were affordable to both, but 4 x $10 wagers and 1 x $500 skews the results away from the game picker. He's then only as strong as his weakest game of 5.

well,
i've got this arrangement with a good friend and I do believe that I'm going to choose to let him pick the sides and I'll determine the size of the wager .....we've decided to keep it between 1 and 2 units.
When he's above 55% I'll increase 1/2 unit or if he goes below 45% then I'll decrease 1/2 unit.........If he picks 50% I will be a winner at the end....probably needs a little tweaking as we go but I agree with buddy ......Money Management is most important.
