Here is an example of a budget for a single person who has no more than $1,500 to spend a month:
Rent $200 to $300
Electricity and water $20
Cable TV $25
Monthly Transportation $50
Monthly public health insurance (medicines included) $50
Food $200
Entertainment $100 -$150
Misc. $200

Costa Rica is a beautiful country in a lot of places, and the people seem to genuinely take care of what they have unlike a lot of other countries I've seen. Of course, there are plenty of not so beautiful areas. But I'd be lying if I didn't give it some thought when I was there. It's a great country for a vacation, for sure.
