So last week I go to my wife's bank who is also one of my larger clients bank to cash a check from them. They give me a stack of 100s. On my way home my wife calls and asks me to stop by our credit union to pay her car payment. I go in with the 100s I got from the other bank, give the teller a few of them. She looks each one over and picks one of them out. Says it looks funny and asks if I mind if she takes it to her manager. He ends up coming out and gets me to come to the back with him. I end up looking at the 100 with him under a black light and it did look totally different from the other 100s. Long story short, they took the 100 to send in to the Secret Service office. I call the other bank and they basically tell me sorry you're out of our bank how do we know it was ours.

Quickest way I've ever lost 100.00 bill.

Wow, that's bullshit. What are we supposed to do now, bring our own bill testing equipment when we get cash? You're lucky the whole stack wasn't suspect. :scared

There is a visible tiny black security strip running thru the narrowest portion of the bill slightly under the surface...for notes dated back to early 1990's I believe.

Way back when (early 60's) one of our Italian neighbors inadvertently used a counterfeit 5 dollar she got in change.
She actually had an interview with the secret service, was quite the neighborhood "Buzz".

It costs the Gubberment about 20 cents to produce a hundred dollar note.

From wikipedia:

The newest $100 bill was announced on April 21, 2010, and was to enter circulation in early 2011.[4] In addition to design changes introduced in 1996, the obverse features the brown quill that was used to sign the Declaration of Independence; faint phrases from the Declaration of Independence; a bell in the inkwell that appears and disappears depending on the angle at which the bill is viewed; teal background color; a borderless portrait of Benjamin Franklin; a blue "3D security ribbon" (real name "Motion") on which images of Liberty Bells shift into numerical designations of "100" as the note is tilted; and to the left of Franklin, small yellow 100s whose zeros form the EURion constellation.

The reverse features small yellow EURion 100s and has the fine lines removed from around the vignette of Independence Hall. These notes will be issued as Series 2009 with Rios-Geithner signatures.

Many of these changes are intended not only to thwart counterfeiting but to also make it easier to quickly check authenticity and help vision impaired people.[12] Problems in the printing process have led to a delay in the release of the new bills.[13] On April 24, 2013, a release date of October 8, 2013 was announced.[14]

That is bullshit, I would have been pissed off. In fact, have you taken all your money out of that bank yet? I would, fuck them, its their mistake not yours.

I got tired of the bank not calling me back so I called the Secret Service office myself. The guy was very nice and said he would look for it but they get about 3000 bills a week to look at so it might be hard to find. Says he finds it hard to believe that the bigger banks missed it when it ran thru their counter but if they did then I'm out a hundie.
