I'm sure Parcells doesn't put up with this kind of stuff.

Quarterback Quincy Carter is expected to be released by the Dallas Cowboys Wednesday after testing positive for cocaine, league sources told FOX NFL Sunday insider John Czarnecki.

Club owner Jerry Jones confirmed that Carter has been released. Cowboys coach Bill Parcells is expected to hold a regularly scheduled news conference at 11:30 a.m. PT Wednesday at the team's training camp headquarters in Oxnard, Ca.
Carter entered the league in the NFL substance abuse program and this is his second positive test, which by NFL rules would warrant a four-game fine ? not a suspension.

Aikman: Where Cowboys go from here

Carter's agent, Eugene Parker, did not immediately return calls seeking comment.

Carter, who started all 16 games last season, came to camp expecting to be the starter again. The other quarterbacks in camp are 40-year-old Vinny Testaverde, who is reuniting with Parcells, rookie Drew Henson and unproven second-year player Tony Romo.

The Cowboys drafted Carter in the second round out of Georgia in 2001. He was named the starter to replace Troy Aikman during his first training camp, but he struggled and only started the first eight games. He went 3-5, completing 90 of 176 passes for 1072 yards, five TDs and seven interceptions.

The next year he was the starter out of camp again, leading Dallas to a 3-4 record before losing the job to Chad Hutchinson.

Last season, the Cowboys went 10-6 with Carter starting and got back in the playoffs in Parcells' first year in Dallas. He threw for 3,302 yards, but had 21 interceptions and 17 touchdowns. He was intercepted at least twice in six games.

This move comes on the heels of reviews claiming that Henson has been the best quarterback in camp thus far.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Being a lifelong Cowboy man, I'm glad this came about. I never regarded Quincy as a long term answer as a stater but rather as a nice change of pace type career backup. It might be bad timing, but deep down Jerry and Bill knew this would eventually be the case. Hopefully, this will accelarate Henson's game. At the least, they get to look at Henson alot more. The cocaine thing is typical of this type of mentality and a true blunder on Q's part.

It was rumored while I was at Georgia (same time Quincy was there) that his broken wrist was a phantom injury to cover up his cocaine use.

Do not be surprised if this story develops into more over the coming months.

I've followed the 'Boys since 1966...didn't like QC at Georgia...and definately not as Dallas' starting QB. Reports say Parcells will go with his man Vinnie...but scouting says Henson has looked the sharpest of the QB's.

Still waiting to hear Keyshon's take on QC...that should be interesting.

I do what I do for others, not because I can or want to...but because it is the right thing to do.

Dr. Trivia you're right but I don't think we need to hear Keychain. We know what he thinks. LOL

Although Key is an idiot with his mouth, i think he keeps it shut this one time which in itself will be a historic feat.

I think he knows the Cowboys will cut him too in a heartbeat AND NOT PAY HIM.
