I know it's been many months since I posted any cricket plays here at Madjack's. Time constraints have prevented me from doing so as I try and move ever forward with capping other sports. Don't think for one minute that I haven't bet on any cricket personnally, because I have. I just haven't had time to share my thoughts with you all here.
Tomorrow (Saturday) see's the conclusion of the triangular tournament between England, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe were eliminated after England inflicated them to their heaviest one-day defeat in many years. England have made a number of changes to their personnel since the World Cup, some appear good and others not so, but that's not to say they don't warrant their place, it's just taking time for those to find their feet when upped in class to international status.
During the group games, England beat South Africa twice and lost once yet still they are posted as underdogs for the final. Englands bowlers have been consistant, their fielding first class and their batting good, although the odd wobble has still been evident.
Matching the sides up you would say that the bowling attack of both sides is about equal and England shade the strength in batting. With this in mind I cannot understand why England are priced at 5/4 (2.25) and South Africa at 8/13 (1.62).
Let's get on with the suggested wagers.
Now as you can probably tell I feel England are good value and are more than capable of winning this match. Yet my cautious nature see's a stronger bet than betting them outright. Sporting odds have England in the handicap match up as evens (2.00) with a 15.5 run start and/or 1.5 wickets. So my first suggestion is
2 pts ENGLAND + 15.5 runs / + 1.5 Wickets @ 2.00 (sportingodds)
Top England Batsman
1 pt Vaughan 7/2 (4.50)
0.75 pts Flintoff 11/2 (6.50)
Top South African Batsman
1 pt Smith 9/2 (5.50)
1 pt Kallis 3/1 (4.00)
0.75 pts Rudolph 7/1 (8.00)
