The best ruins to see Imo are on the mainland in Mexico. The problem is having enough time to get there, you would have to take the ferry to Playa Del Carmen. (easy to do).
Chichen Itza is the best to see but that's a full day trip.
My recommendation would be either Coba or Ek Balum.
If the ship offers an guided excursion I would do that.

There are some ruins near the Belize/Guatemala border that are interesting. It?s no Chichen itza but worth a visit, IMO.
You may be able to grab a tour out of Belize city the day you?re there. Belize is tiny and it?s barely 2 hours across if I remember, but it?s been at least a decade since I was in Belize.

Cricket you can get better deal onshore, however the ones the ship offers gets you to and from ship and also guarantees you are not left there. If you do excursions on your own and do not get back in time you are stuck there on your dime getting to the next port. We have seen people left at Cozumel as they just lose track of time and don't make it.
If your plans are just to walk around just take a few hours and come back, I prefer ship excursions just for safety I don't want to pay to get back.

Did this one visit to Belize. One of the coolest experiences I?ve ever had.
We weren?t there via a cruise and we stayed out on caye caulker on the beach.
Came back to the mainland to go to the ruins and heard from others on that tour that we needed to go cave tubing.
The tour company drove us into the jungle and our starting point was a cenote where you could climb down into the water or jump in from about 20 feet and they?d toss you your tube once you were in.
My brother and I did flips off the edge, then climbed back out and jumped again as those who opted to climb down got into the water.

We're going to be in Cozumel around Feb 19th so we'll just miss you. Be careful buying jewelry there most of it's fake but the store owners will give you a sales pitch you wouldn't believe. Just be careful when buying anything and be sure to barter. you can most things half off just by walking away.
Don't book too many all day excursions they have half day ones too. Leave some time to relax or you'll be burned out.
A good tip is while deciding on the excursions is to look at them on you tube to see if it's really something you want to do.
