Dallas at Charlotte: worst schedule disadvantage of the entire season in all NBA

Sound the alarms from the mountain tops! This game has the most severe MahScore of 2017-18, folks. So feel free to send thoughts and prayers to the Mavericks in advance, because they're going to need help. It's tough enough that the Mavericks will be playing their third game in four days (and their fifth game in eight days). It's tough enough that this will be the second of a home-road back-to-back set. But then consider the travel. The Mavericks will face the Magic at home on Jan. 9, then head out that night for Charlotte -- a trek that will cost them an hour and which will span, oh, more than 900 miles as the crow flies. And somehow, someway, the Hornets will enter this game with a four-day rest advantage. You read that right: four days. Thoughts and prayers, Dallas. Thoughts and prayers.

Nice work, but unfortunately this is part of the problem of markets recognizing situations, with the oddsmakers already doing some adjusting in-house before the send-outs. For perspective, on their last road trip the Mavs were +3.5 at Indiana (no Oladipo shaving about a basket there), +6.5 at New Orleans and +7.5 at OKC, all teams with better records than 15-23 Charlotte.

I do like the Hornets focus aspects - that was a strong road trip by them, and now there is not only the opportunity to get fresh, but also to put a game plan together (since they have tomorrow off, they can put the full focus on Dallas). But the Mavs can be tricky in terms of fatigue - because they have so many players in their rotation, they are not as subject to wearing down as other teams (no one averages a full 35.0 minutes per game). I would have needed a -5 for a "go", and then something smaller at -6, but there has [been] a queue at the window all morning to back the fresh team in that game, and I never got a ticket in.
