I was not a huge Rush fan, but he was THE best drummer I ever saw in concert in my life. And I have easily been to 500+ shows.

RIP

On the course!
Amazing in today's world that this could be kept secret for 3 years. Very sad day, indeed.

I also hope all the selfish fans who gave him shit for retiring feel like complete dinks.

Holy bleep...what a freakin' way to find out. Just cruised in to General D to kill some time. First I'd heard.
Dude grew up same area of T.O. as I'm from (never met). One of my earliest rock n roll is king persuasions, even before getting into Zeppelin.

Still love this band.
Mind-boggling how often I hear their stuff played in NHL arenas and such, especially in the U.S. (where most games are played, obviously).

I'd better shut up.
I was listening to some Budgie but I think I need to bail...return to If I Were Brittania I'd Waive The Rules another time.

I'm hearing my hiQ but this copy don't sound half bad...

R.I.P. my sonic friend.
I owe you big time in the next life.

Had another one of those ineffable, emotional mindblasts on that latest listen to 2112.
Neighborhood of 15,000 CDs, now (lost count past 10 G), and that song remains a top 10 qualifier.

Hearing some more. Chronologically. Skipping self-titled as pre-Peart.
Might as well share some of my personal faves. I promise I'll stop before Signals.

Forgive me.

That last track, In the End, owns me.

This is painful. In a good way. Sorta.

I could maybe drop 1 track from Caress of Steel but funk it. I love this disc.

Had to be 1985 or 1986, I was a Dungeon Master for the first and only time. Went pretty good for as long as it went, methinks. Main bad dude was 'The Necromancer', stolen from this disc, of course. I can't remember what other tidbits I stole from tunes save for one, from a Uriah Heep tune: the Rainbow Demon.

Memories. Love 'em and hate 'em.

That Fountain of Lamneth closer--whole side B--is an overlooked existential trip.
I be taking it now. Soon.

Frig...distracted by this player proppost I'm working on (might as well pull the pants down). Been sitting in silence a stretch.

I/we did 2112.

I need more time (who doesn't?).
Me hear the whole.

Sorry, REFLOG. I could have started a new thread. Wasn't thinking--just reacting.
Hendrix forbid you take offense. Vegas odds...I'll have to check the line.

We're(I'm) at Hemispheres. Quite a tripping side-A piece to begin the disc. Not quite up to par with 2112, imo, as its a bit of a jumbled mess in same way that a movie like Blue Velvet is. How's that for a comparison? The heart and mind divided notion is stellar, while the presentation is a little jagged. Still as essential listen. Circumstances is all I would drop from any list of 'preferred' or whatevas...The Trees is a little too political for me, in a 1984 kind of way.

Shut up and play music.

Gotta cover the next 2 discs, at least. Never listen to post-Pictures anyways.

Don't sell the post Moving Pictures era short. I know the synthesizer took the front for a little while, but they still knocked out some great songs.

Their chops got better with age, even if Geddy lost the pipes. Alex remains one of the most underrated guitarists in history.

You're probably right. The last couple of discs I've probably only heard 2 or 3 times. Nothing majorly grabbed me--from memory--and I've been zapping the hours with (almost) too many things that I love or want to check out. I'll be on those again rather soon, barring something worse than death (or the latter).

Needed some silence for 'capping but its (almost) feeling like work, so taking a break to get into Moving Pictures. Came out the same year my parents stopped (semi-)forcing Judaism on me. I remember it well. Whatever 'it' is.

The MFSL UDCD 569 gold disc sounds fantastic, if you can snag (or spin) one.
I think all of Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab's remasters sound fantastic.

I'm screwed. I've got insomnia but I ain't risking missing Saturday's NFL; just warning my body in case it starts to think its drowsy come noon, or something.

Sounds like Ed Van Halen could be next.......
I read somewhere that Eddie had throat cancer.... not sure if it's spread to other areas? Wow ,I grew up loving both Rush and VH. RIP Neil, greatest rock drummer in our time. :0008
