Good morning everyone:)
Today I have the unenviable task of taking my 2 girls to their mothers funeral:(
My ex. Lisa died last Thursday from cancer. She was only 39 yrs. old.She had battled it for about 5 yrs.
My oldest Brittany turned 13 on mothers day,she is taking it pretty hard. She's not happy with me at the moment as I told her she needs to change schools next year so she can be closer to the school where I live. She wants to do the things she wants to do.They lived with their mother about 2 miles from me.Lisa and I had 50-50 custody of them.Towards what looked like the beginning of the death process I let the girls stay with their mom most of the time.I'm going to have my hands full with Brittany. She's a very smart girl and has had to grow up to quick.
Shannon is going to be 10 at the end of July. She is handling this unbievably good:confused: I wanted to write this to get some feedback.I don't know how they are going to handle this funeral.
All I will say to them is everything is going to be alright.
We have a strong belief in the Lord:D

Thanks for any thoughts,Dave

Reading this really breaks my heart and I know it has to be very difficult on you to stay positive throughout this truly sad time in your family's life. On the bright side, it sounds as if you're holding together pretty well. Your daughters will need you now more than ever before.

I have 2 daughters myself and these are the things I fear the most. My life just would not be complete without them in it.

My prayers go out to you and your family. You have my support and please keep us updated.

Dave,my prayers also go out to you & your girls.

Since you only lived 2 miles from their mother, did you ever think about moving into their mother's home? This way they can stay in the same schools & not disrupt their lives more than it has already.

I found myself backspacing 3 times so far its really hard to give feedback on something you've never had to deal with. Our deepest sympathy goes out to you and especially your girls. People will help you I'm sure my neighbor died last year in a vehicle accident & left behind a 13 yr old her father was already deceased its very sad but she's getting threw it her friends my daughter being one of them have helped her threw some tough times so you may want to keep that in mind when transfering your girls???????Teenagers idol there friends.so it may be worth it in the long run to leave them where they are until high school:shrug: :( :(

Update 6:45 Pacific Time

Thank you,
boilermaker,Felonious Monk,AR182 and TBONEZ0295. Guys,the funeral went better than expected:thumb:
I can see your points about the new schools for the girls, however,Britt needs to be at the school bus, which picked her up at 7:10.Shanny doesn't start school till 9:00,there are times when I start work at 6:00 a.m.,7:00 a.m.,8:00 a.m. It's diffecult to do this and be a leadman who needs to be at work earlier than most.
Concerning the house,I released the house to her in our divorce and left the house in order so as not to ruin what the kids were used to.
Her father is on the title now with Lisa.He hasn't offered me to move in. Over the years,he's put lots of $$$$ into it for her.I feel he would like to sell it to recoup some of the money he has invested. That's fine with me.
I've moved on my own now and feel it will help the girls like this, they each have 1 more year before they move on to high school for Britt and middle school for Shann.I figure they'll each have 1 year to meet their new friends and they can all go to their new schools together to start fresh. Kids are very resilient. It doesn't mean they'll never see their friends again:) thanx dave
