I am really liking Pittsburgh to romp over Ohio. Since the both of you specialize in the MAC, can you offer any insights on this game? Would appreciate your comments. Thanx.

Iam gonna stay away from this game...heres something from someone I know...he`s just as good as Iam when it comes to the MAC...

Pitt 27 - Ohio 19
The Facts:
Pitt leads the series 3-0. Pitt won in 1990 35-3 & in 1994 30-16.
Ohio is 26-16 in their last 42 games as an away dog.
In 2001, Ohio lost at WVU 20-3 while the Panthers beat WVU 23-17.
Since 1994, Pitt is 3-7 ATS as a home favorite by 14-points or more.
Pitt is 3-2 ATS and 5-0 versus the MAC since 1998.
The Panthers return 14 starters from a 7-5 team, including their final six.
The Dish: No team in America is more over-rated than Pitt. Every year I keep hearing how great this team is, how great Walt Harris is, and how they will having a ??break out?? year. Yet, every year, the Panthers seem to struggle with IA bottom feeders Temple and West Virginia and lost at home last year to IA newcomer South Florida. Ohio has a lot to prove. Last year Ohio was picked by most to contend for a MAC championship, and floundered to a 1-10 season. The players and coaches want to forget about that nightmare of a season and the heart and sole of this team returns, FB Chad Brinker. The Bobcats will play well and be in this game, but in the end, I give the nod to the hometown Panthers.
The Line: Pitt by 19.5

Hellah 10. Thanx a bunch for your tremendous insight. I still see this game as a mismatch especially when you consider that Pitt had a top 10 defense last year and has a lot of returnees. But, I do have questions regarding Pitt's offense so will probably make this a small play for me. Again, thanx for your help.

Pitt has definitely made a lot of "pro" handicappers look like asses the last couple years, but they came on at the end of last year winning six in a row straight-up and ATS. They have all 5 OL returning, while Ohio has just 3 starters back on D. To me that looks like a recipe for disaster. From what I've seen of Grobe in the ACC, he's a very solid coach, and it seems that his departure had a lot to do with Ohio's collapse last year.

Thanx guys. Line has moved up 2.0 to Pitt -21.5 Guess I need to put in a bet now before it reaches -25. Will probably be a $100 play for me. Any more insights will be appreciated.

speaking as a pitt fan, they are hard to figure out. they seem to play to the level of the compitition. at least when they play the smaller teams. as far as being the most over rated team in america, i don't think so. i have not even seen them picked in anybodies top 25.

i guess if i had to make a play on this game, i would take ohio, but i will probably pass on this one.

good luck whoever you take.

GO PANTHERS!!

Well I cant find it...maybe hiddin with my porn

anyhoo....here is a link to go to...make sure you gotta Adobe Reader installed first.

http://www.pittsburghpanthers.com/files/48.pdf

One thing I might want to point out to you just in case you dont really read this...

Pitt is 17-0 all time versus the MAC. They are (Akron)2-0, (BGSU)2-0, Eastern Michigan(1-0), Kent St(6-0), Miami(OH)(2-0), AND Ohio(4-0)

Most importantly....Pitt has outscored its MAC opponents 666-166 in 17 games.

Then again they never played Toledo - Western - or Marshall :D

Thanx guys. Haven't laid any $$$ as it presently looks like a pass for me. Your insights are much appreciated and really goes to show everyone how useful this forum is. Now how about your insights on Michigan State -37 over E. Michigan and Iowa-18 1/2 over Akron?

Well the Akron game...they are a tricky team...they are the only team in the MAC that I cannot fully figure out. It seems like they arent coached well or something...dont know cant explain. More importantly I dont know jack shit about Iowa...thats something you gotta ask redsfann or hawkeye.

As far as the Michigan St game...MSU should be able to roll on them...but it has been known that in state Michgan schools play eachother tough. You really picked the 2 hardest games on the MAC schedule to be honest with ya. I only beat on Iowa and MSU once last year. Iam not a big fan of betting on or against the Big 10....that conference owns me....badly.

However, Nick thinks that EMU gets goosed

The Facts:

- The Spartans are 7-0 SU and 6-1 ATS against the MAC since 1994.

- MSU is 10-4 as a double-digit home favorite.

- In the last 8 years, EMU is 2-15 ATS versus non-MAC I-A teams.

- EMU is 0-9 versus the Big Ten and 2-7 ATS and has been outscored 396-52.

-EMU?s last winning season came in 1995.

The Dish: The Eagles have just 29 returning lettermen and 11 starters. The QB situation is not very strong and the offensive line is brand new. Although EMU had done a terrific job under Coach Woodruff in getting faster and stronger, they are still light-years away from being a good IA team. In fact, this team would not be good enough to make the I-AA playoffs this year if they were in that division. MSU has their first five games at home and seven of their first eight. Something is wrong with that picture to me, but Coach Bobby Williams is under pressure to produce now. Considering the Spartans beat Central Michigan 35-21 last year, Marshall 34-24 in 2000, EMU 51-7 in 1999, and Western Michigan 42-10 in 1997, I expect MSU to crush EMU. In fact, 41-0 is being generous to the Eagles.

The Line: Michigan State by 38

Hellah 10 - once again thanx for your insight. I sincerely appreciate it. FYI, the reason I'm asking for opinions on these MAC related games is because I did quite well playing MAC teams last year. Actually, my favorite game is Boise State. Used to be big instate rivals but lately BSU owns Idaho. BSU is loaded this year and should easily cover the 23. Also, I'm looking at LA Tech -1. They are loaded again and practically never lose at home. By the way, what game or games are you looking at? Any game you like a lot?

Hellah - thanx for your heads up on the Mia-OH/UNC game. I totally agree with you regardg Roethlisberger. Saw that Hawaii game and came away 100% impressed with him. And the kid was only a Freshman! What struck me the most was that he was a lanky kid but he was poised and played with HEART! If he has the supportiing cast like you say he has, Mia-OH will be heard from this year. That Nov. 12th game might shape up to be a barnburner!

HA! You think he`s good now....shoulda seen what he did to us in high school. We were in the same league....not also was I the kicker...I was also the DB, god I wish I was never DB that game...he must of had 600 yards of passing...he OWNS Ohio High School records...I think the final of that game was 72-0....last time someone put 72 points on us is when we played league rival Fremont Ross..and guess who they had at tailback....Charles Woodson
