Every year on Jan 1st around 7-8 buddies all get together and deep fry a turkey, have a few cold ones and watch all the Bowl games. Last year we deep fried anything we could get our hands on, pizza rolls, twinkies,etc...

Anyone deep fry anything worth trying ? I heard about a place that deep fryed a Hot Dog

Any suggestions ???

Crab Balls

By Diana Rattray,

Ingredients:

1 pound backfin crabmeat
2 eggs, well beaten
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1/2 cup cracker crumbs
3 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 tablespoon prepared mustard

Preparation:

Gently mix all ingredients. Using hands, shape into small balls.
Chill prepared balls. Just before serving time, roll in fine bread crumbs or cracker crumbs and deep fry in hot oil (365?) until golden brown. These may also be sauteed in butter. Serve hot with your choice of dip or cocktail sauce. Serves 4 to 8.

Belly of the Beast
Ingredients:
1 hot dog
1 slice of thick-cut bacon
1 can of spray cheese
1 can beer (It doesn?t matter what kind, but we recommend something dark. Corona probably isn?t a good idea)
1 cup flour
Oil for frying

First take the center out of the hot dog with an apple corer, if you have access to one. If not, just cut out the middle with a knife. Fill the cavity with the spray cheese and use the hot dog you removed from the middle as a cap to keep the cheese in. Wrap the bacon around the hot dog.Deep-fry for two to four minutes or until bacon is cooked. Dab them dry with a paper towel (so the batter will stick). Mix the beer with the flour until it reaches a thick, but lump-free consistency. Dip the dogs in the batter, coating the dog completely.Deep-fry on high heat for two to three minutes or until brown and deadly.
NOTE: Don?t fry them too long or all of the cheese will explode out into the oil.

Bacon Cheese Dogs (GREAT) , but did it this way... wrapped a slice of bacon around the premade cheese dog, grabbed it with the long tongs and deep fryed for about a minute or so (350 degrees or so) then right onto a bun :00hour

Tried a Hamburger ( :sadwave: ) probably not again, just didnt work out right.

Pizza Rolls - Good but just like a pizza puff only smaller

Turkey - E'Nuff said

Fozen Twinkies :mj06: , no dipping in batter, just dropped into the fryer, try to move the twinkie around to create an even browning on the twinkie and BAM, was OUTSTANDING

Gonna enjoy about another 6pack, watch Cincy beat V.Tech and:142hump: then :bed:

Thanks for some ideas GUYS
