The top 8 defensive teams last year all made good money vs the moneyline over the course of the season....its good place to start handicapping a game(in conjunction w/ other factors) is to try and figure out who will be keeping their opposition well under the current season goals against avg...don't go by any other seasons when thinking...think current season only.

last year avg nhl goals was 2.73 per game.

Just a note on my team-Buffalo. This will be a DIFFERENT team this year. Remember that Biron is replacing Hasek and although they did not pick up a big goal scorer-their preseaon output was impressive-esp the power play.
Buffalo will try to open it up more-needing to get those extra goals for Marty.

WW - Have to disagree with you a bit about the Sabres "pening up" the offense. The Sabres have about the same guys they had 2 and 3 years ago, when they were the youngest team [average age] in the NHL. They were winning and Hasek was stopping 40-50 shots on goal per game.

Last year they struggled a bit even though they cut down the shots on goal in many games to under 20. They just do not have any major goal scorers.

I think they will have a decent season because those young players now have a couple of years experience under their belts, but I am willing to bet that their games are 5 or under more than 6 or over.
