Here is this year?s list of my top ten teams according to my preseason ?raw? power ratings. Power ratings gives you a ballpark figure in which you can start to formulate
the relative strength of a team and come up with an approximant line spread. These numbers do not contain home field advantage nor the results of fall practice ; schedule analysis also is not included.
This is my second year that I have posted these ratings. Last year my point spread numbers vs The opening line at the Stardust and the final score of each game was my best to date [ seven years] as the Stardust and myself split 50% /50%. I am still trying to refine my skill at this as I want to become the best handicapper I can be. I had the top ?25? last year but have decided to stick with the top ten for 2006 ; I also included some of my own personal thoughts.
Constructive comments are always welcome and a few laughs are always fun.

1.Florida: 164? And you thought Urban Meyer?s playbook couldn?t fly in the SEC.
Chris Leak is a top QB and finally finds the grove in this the second year of the spread-option offense.
2. Michigan: 163? I know this will raise some eyebrows. Carr is on the hot seat and a different attitude in Ann Arbor is in the air. Lower expectations will give us ?line value? several times this year. Do not stand in front of a mean Wolverine.
3. USC: 161? This is still one of the most talented teams in the NCAA with an excellent coaching staff. Team harmony and experience is what is needed here.
3. Auburn: 161? After seven years here I?m still not sure if I like Tuberville or not. This team is always tough.
3. Tennessee: 161? I know, I know ,but do you really think this team is as bad as last year?s record ? This team is worth watching.
3. Texas: 161? I have heard so much about how it will be impossible to replace Young. Longhorn football is alive and well in Austin it?s just a different color steer.
4. Notre Dame. 160 This team is usually overrated. Not this year as defensive experience helps close the speed gap; the offense will take care of itself.
5. Georgia: 159? A lot of seniors and juniors on the two deep but will fall back into the top 20.
5.Miami Fla. 159? 55 returning lettermen should keep them in the top 10. For those who dislike Coker his record is 53-9.
6. Texas Tech: 159 This team is fun to watch as footballs in the air sometimes block out the sun.
7. Ohio State 158 No matter what people say you can?t replace nine starters on defense in the first month of the season and two losses in September will have them not playing in the big dance. Tressel is one of the best.
7. LSU 158 This team always has top talent. I am still not sold on Les Miles.
8. Arizona St. 157? This offense is scary and has the best one/two punch in QB history.
Can the defense stop anyone?
9. Louisville 155? overall I still think this team is a B+ team.
10. Oklahoma 155 One of the nation?s best running backs but a weak offensive line and a weak but improving QB.
