At that point, it's the "normal right move" for any manager.
Just blame it on Giants bullpen. That lucky 3 run homer lift all the halos.......... They didn't know they had a chance to win untill then.

why not! i played ball for years and even played semi-pro down in texas -and was always a believer if ur pitcher is going strong why the hell pull him and take a chance! i see it every year in the pros during the regular season. dont care about the pen-if ur starter is going strong and have a nice lead let him go atleast 8 and even enter the 9th until he gives up something. ortiz was flawless througout the game-why? especially in the world series? they may pay for it now

I agree with dawger. Ortiz should not have started the seventh. One thing no one seems to be mentioning is it seemed a Baker was a little cocky in giving Ortiz "the game ball" as if they had already won.

jmizeus,

This is the biggest stage in the world, if you're able to pull this game out its all over... You know the ability of the Angels and you know they roughed up Ortiz.. You need 9 outs. You pratically have 9 pitchers out there you could go with..

II just don't see why Baker sticks with them so long.. Even if you send the guy out, don't you take him out after the first hit? Baker waited too long in game too to hook ortiz, ran him back out there in the second to give up a couple more runs and in the end it cost them the game.
