Quick question...figured most on here would know the answer-

I got the Sports Pack on Directv. I go to watch a Rangers game on MSG...and it's blacked out.

I can't figure out any other reason it's blacked out other than because of the Center Ice package-

So does that mean that in the Sports Pack I purchased, any NHL or NBA game in the packaged I paid for will be blacked out since it's available on Full Court or Center Ice???

If so that is complete bullshit- So if I am a Rangers fan I can't just pay for a package with MSG...they are forcing the whole center ice package down my throat?

Exactly.. The college sports that come on MSG you will see but for Rangers, Knicks games, you must get the package... Where I livve it is all fucked up.. I get the T - Wolves for Hoops but the Brewers for baseball. Had to buy the package to get the Twins..

yup you get the pro sports on your local regional sports network, everything else you have to purchase the nhl or nba league package.

I have the nhl center ice and really all the sports packages but what pisses me off, is the lack of versus network.

I understand versus is trying to ask for too much money but I am paying to get all the games not most of them.

Hmm, are there different sports packages? I have NFL Superfan and I get all MSG games. And where I live, I get all Miwaukee, Minnesota, Chicago, St. Louis, and Kansas City area sports.

wait, so for 5 bucks a month you're NOT getting every nba-nhl-mlb-nfl-ncaa game possible???

what a rip off!

if you want nhl, get center ice
if you want mlb, get extra innings
if you want nba, get leauge pass
if you want nfl, get sunday ticket
if you want ncaa football, get espn gameplan
if you wnat naa hoops, get espn hardcourt

if you want all the ncaa games on ALL the regional sports channels, + nba tv, + nfl network, + all the programming on the regional sports channels get the sports pack ......which is what you have....it's the best deal they offer.

It's not about being cheap. And it's 11 bucks/month btw. Hey, it's a great business model. I never asked for every game under the sun. I'm a Rangers fan, I have no interest in watching random NHL teams unless it's against the Rangers- Why should I be force fed the entire center ice package? I bought the sports pack and it includes MSG network...which airs most Ranger games. Blacking it out when I'm paying extra for the network is complete bullshit if you ask me. But I can't argue with their reasoning from a business perspective

it's an nhl package not a team by team package thus msg is blacked out for all pro games unless you subscribe to that pro leauge package.

my understanding is this..

Mon. night football was and is not part of the purchase contract.

Disney/ABC/ESPN..made damn sure they would not part with Monday Night Football

Contract Extension
On March 23, 2009, it was announced that DirecTV paid $4 billion to extend its exclusive contract for NFL Sunday Ticket until 2014. [3] After the 2014-15 NFL season, DirecTV will have had exclusive U.S. rights for the package for 20 straight seasons.
The contract extension also calls for the establishment of an online version of Sunday Ticket, similar to the existing Supercast, for non-DirecTV subscribers by 2012 as well as a "Red Zone" channel to be carried on cable and telco television systems.[4] So far, Comcast, Dish Network, Verizon FiOS, AT&T Uverse, Blue Ridge Communications and Buckeye Cable have picked up the new Red Zone channel. [5] [6][7] [8]

being stuck here in the Cleveland market I gave the Red Zone a shot last week and its not too bad. They take you everywhere the action is which is not in Cleveland.

oh, i dont know....maybe because the nfl has a contract with espn allowing them to show monday night football and since espn is a cable station, people are essentially paying for it.

and sunday nfl ticket is contract with direct tv subscribers only that allows them to charge a subscription package for all sunday games not shown in local markets on network tv.
