any suggestions for hotels in Orlando area. Disney resort hotels are pricey, but willing to spend the extra if it is worth it. Have 2 young children and are planning going in march. thanks in advance

dukie,

i was there some time ago & there are many hotels/motels off site. why don't you see if orlando has their own site to see what hotels are in the neighborhood.

also try mgm studios while there.

enjoy

There's nothing like staying at a Disney resort. Just got back from there on 2/4/04. Give me your dates I may be able to get you a discount as long as you are not going on spring break.

I like the Disney Resorts, and with kids it might be a better option, but I prefer the Universal Hotels and area. Obviously it's still an easy trip to the Disney parks. The link below has the three universal hotels. I've stayed at Portofino and Royal Pacific and liked both of them a lot. They also have a pretty new Hard Rock hotel. Royal Pacific is only about 1 1/2 or 2 years old.

They're all really close to Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios, which are both fun parks for adults and kids. They also have a City Walk area right there with bars, restaurants, clubs and a big movie theater. There is a lot of action without the total chaos of the Disney Resorts, imo.

Here are two codes you can use for the value resorts the all star resorts and the new one pop century. Rates are $79 a night with code CTN or CPC you must book today 2/9/04. The kids will love these resorts.

Stayed at the all-star resorts a few times. Very reasonable and convenient. You can take the bus right from the resort right to the main entrance of the parks...

Stayed at Port Orleans....Disney Resort, one of the cheaper ones...was brand new when I went, not a bad place...they really do everything right down there. IMO, it's worth it to stay within the resorts, as you can just bus it within anywhere Disney.
